I was just wondering how people with diabetes deal on a cruise? Is there ever any problem bringing needles or insulin on board? How about in different ports, do they try and take the insulin away or the needles? Sorry if this question is silly but I really need to know if there has been any problems with this?

thanks all,

Re: diabetics
As a nurse I have had several people call for written prescriptions so they can take along with them on thier vacations. Call and ask for a written script a few days before you leave. I don't think you will have any problems. I have also seen they offer diabetic meals. Happy sailing!!!! (make sure the Dr puts his/her DEA number on the script for you)

Re: diabetics
The room stewart will ask if you need a container for your needles It is no problem.

Re: diabetics
There will be no problem if you have a letter /prescription from your doctor. As mentioned before, the room steward can get you a container for your sharps. Contact Carnival Special Needs Dept. and be sure there is a frige in your cabin for the insulin.
Have cruised for years and never had a problem.

Re: diabetics
Late Hubby was diabetic and we cruised several times without fridges and with insulin. We were just careful to keep the open container iced. Chck w/ your Dr and/or diabetes educator.

Re: diabetics
The newer ships have small refrigerators in the cabin.
