It depends on your carrier. If you have Cingular/ATT Wireless and you have a GSM phone you should be able to use it in both places without any problems.

We just got back this am from Inspiration. We went to Grand Cayman and there was no service ( Verizion ). We did get signal in Mexico. You may want to check with your carrier about the rates. It gets very expensive. We used a pay phone, found it to be much cheaper!!!

Never tried my cell phone over there at all. Ship -to-shore calls are very expensive. Its like $10.00 per minute. Some people get a international calling card here in the states before they sail to use to call home with while in ports of call . If you go with the calling card, MAKE sure its an International Calling Card . A regular card won't work.

We've always used the Internet Cafe onboard the ship to keep in touch with our kids. It was just easier for me.

Hope you have a great cruise, and a great vacation;

I agree with David W, purchase an international pre-paid calling card....I have Cingular and my cell phone stops working as soon as we leave Miami and does not work again until we return to Miami.
