Looking for two people to share private transportation from Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale airport on November 9th. Total cost for four is $85.50, so it would be $21.37pp. Our flight leaves at 11:39am (Air Tran changed it from 12 noon), so don't want to take a chance with Carnival transfers. Hopefully we can carry our own luggage off the ship and go directly to the waiting vehicle.

We could take a later flight, but it would get us home about 7 hours later.

First Carnival changes our port and then Air Tran changes our flight. What's next?

Sunflower, I think the fare from Carnival from the ship to the FLL airport is very inexpensive like $11 per person. My sister had an 11:am flight from West Palm Beach--that she did not book through Carnival--and they let us off the ship with a bunch of other early departers at 7:30 AM! Very organized, very quick, very comfortable. I don't think they advertise it ,but they do it. There is a window early in the morning before the Coast Guard inspection begins in which they allow people off the ship for like 1/2 hour. Some of the workers that are moving to another ship, or need to go to home office or whatever get off then too. I get off early every time now. We took the ride to FLL not West Palm becasue FLL is close to home then I drove her to West Palm.

Live long and prosper...he he he...

Paige,

Carnival is offering transportation to Ft Lauderdale airport for $10, since they changed the debarkation port to Miami. Our ship isn't supposed to dock until 8am. They have said not to book a flight before 12pm . We have to checkin for our flight at least an hour before departure, or they won't let us board. Do you think Carnival would even sell us the transfers, since our flight is now scheduled to leave at 11:39?

Who do you talk to onboard about getting off the ship early? Do you take your luggage with you?

A presto.

Mariel I would have taken you up on this had I known! I was on that flight also but, I chickened out and took the later flight. I was upset. The 12 was pushing it after the port change. Than they changed the time. I will now be getting home at one in the morning
I took the risk once and lost. I don't want to spend my last moments on the ship worring about missing the flight. Sure would have enjoyed sharing the plane home with you.

Hi Mariel,
Ohh 10 bucks, huh? That's pretty good.

Ok well first off, I want you to stop worrying because I am sure you are going to make your flight. They SAY the ship gets there at 8 but usually it gets there in the wee hours of the am and you can hear the chains anchoring at like 4 am. Or, if Like Cruisintom, you are still up, you can SEE it! If your flight was at 9:30, I'd be concerend but 11:39 is not out of the ordinary. You will be fiiiiiine. I live here and I have cruised out of MIA many times with my co-cruisers needing to go to FLL early, and no one has ever come close to missing a flight. It's hard not to worry, though.

For example right now I'm obsessed with getting tothe train on time after our Vatican tour and with getting from the train station to the pier. "Per favore signore, posse me dicere dove e l'autobus per Carnival?" I heard about people wandering around, etc. Well there are busses and the ship does not leave til 4 so as long as we get there by 2-ish we will be fine.

Hi Melody,

You might want to try and get to the airport as early as possible. If the 11:39 flight isn't full, you might be able to get on it.

We're probably going to take the private transportation and hopefully we'll make the flight.

Hi all,

Just a reminder that if you want to be in our "phone book" for the Liberty cruise on 24 Oct, please send me an email with your screen name, real name and cabin number.

Thanks and it won't be long now!

I think the only concern about making a flight that early MIGHT be the fact it's the ship's first time entering the U.S.

I don't know if this will cause Customs & Immigration any longer to clear the ship, but it might be the case.

If you need any help, I'm sure we can "talk" to some friends onboard and get you off as soon as the ship is cleared.

After 16 days I think they'll be in hurry to get rid of everyone in this group

Thanks Kuki. We'll take you up on the offer to help us get off the ship, after we dock in Miami. I'm not really worried about it, things have a way of working out.

Now, I'm going to start focusing on getting on the ship, not getting off. One month from today, we'll be onboard the Liberty.

However, I'd prefer red white and blue being a New England Patriots fan and a LIBERTY lover and all. I'm not so sure about these Miami Dolphins colors. Even though I DO line in FL now. Well they are soothing and tropical

Heard some of our cruisemates got their docs today. GOOD for them, but bad for me (cause I didn't)

Looks like I'm going to be "working" on the ship one day as part of the cruise staff.... to do an article. Sort of like when I worked as a butler on Celebrity for the day.
http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/humop/butler.cfm

Anyway... if it works out, I'll expect you all to come out and support me that day at any events I end up "working"

Default Dining Time

I was checking the dining time on our reservation (going through the modify booking) and it shows main seating, which would be the 5:45 time. It used to show Main Second Seating, but has changed. We had requested the 6:15 time and to be seated with the CruiseMates group. Does the CruiseMates group have the 5:45 seating?

Hi Mariel,

I had asked our TA to cross reference you with the CruiseMates group for dinner, as requested.

We had also requested the later of the early seatings. I'll have to check with the TA to see if she can check to see what if any has been assigned yet. There likely is still time to change.

I checked the book/modify, and mine also shows main seating, if that's any consolation

Someone mentioned about a get together party in Rome before the
Liberty sails. Is there going to be one. If so please repost. We would
like to go and meet some of our cruise mates.

Counting the days.

Thanks Kuki,

5:45 or 6:15, doesn't really matter on a transatlantic, so whatever time the rest of the group has is fine with us, as long as it's not late seating. Last year we were assigned late seating and it almost took an act of Congress to get it changed to early seating. I think on a transatlantic, the 6:15 time is the most popular.

Just curious-how do you go to book/modify in the carnival site? I really don't mind whatever dining time, I'm just curious as to how you were able to check your reservation online. I can get to where it tells me welcome and how many days till my cruise but I can't find what you guys are talking about. Not really that important, just curious.

Linda.. if you are registered at the Carnival site (which you are if it greets you with how many days you left)

From here go to the Carnival web page, using this link
http://www.carnival.com/ then click on where it lists your cruise days and says Cruise Details, and on the next page on the right hand side it asks for your password. Type in your password, and then minimize that screen (you should be back here)
Then click on this link
http://www.carnival.com/BookModify.aspx

Thanks Kuki,

I tried that and got to where I needed to be. However it has us listed as late seating for dining. When I tried to edit it gave me an error message. Could be because I already have the docs Anyway, I don't know if that means late early seating or late altogether. We'll see in a few weeks. Thanks for the information. Was hoping to at least be with the group on the same seating so we'll see. :o

As usual, thank you very much. Hopefully it is just a typo. We requested to be with the group originally so I'm sure it will be fine. Not really worried, just saw everyone checking and thought I would too.

I also had late seating and called Nancy and had it changed to 6:15. Give her a call and I'm sure she'll fix it for you.

Got my docs too, so we're dancing.....

So much for confidence.. Just looked and it says late for me too.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Nancy may be on a 2 day to nowhere cruise, but we'll talk to her this week and see to it that the group is all seated together.
