Can anybody tell me about either of these ships? Honestly, we have only traveled on RCCL, Voyager class. However, my husband and I want to take a cruise by ourselves for our 25th ann. These two ships run almost identical itineraries (Key West, Cozumel)
for 4 days. It sounds ideal, however, I am nervous because I hear about how old and rundown they are getting. We are in our mid-40's and want a fast-paced itinerary. I'm worried though about the staterooms and the food. Any help would be appreciated.
Have sailed on both ships... the Imagination is a little newer than the Fascination. The food is just as good as the newer, larger Carnival ships, nice casino, shows, etc. Because they have been in service longer, of course, there is more wear and tear on these ships, chips in the bathroom sink, stains, etc., but they are kept clean and service throughout the ship is very good. There are not as many entertainment venues on these ships either so it depends on what you're looking for. I wouldn't hesitate sailing on either ship for a short cruise.
My wife & I (both early 40's) sailed on Immagination in January on their 5 night tour.
My wife's 1st cruise (she was not overely sure she would enjoy a cruise - silly girl) and my 4th. We both had an amazing time.
We had no problem finding things to do at virtually any time of the day or night, and really enjoyed Barry in the piano bar. I think we spent 3 late nights in there and would highly recommend it if you are looking for some fun.
We had great dinner companions at our table of 8, and although the portions could have been a bit bigger, the food was for the most part VERY good.
If we needed a little something later, there was no problem at all finding something.
We also had a great time swimming with the Rays in Grand Cayman, and doing the falls at Dunn's River.
Although the ship may not be the biggest, or newest ship in the water, it was perfectly fine for a 4/5 day cruise.
I would have no hesitation going back again, but my wife is wanting at least a 7 day cruise next time (seems she's sure about it now).
Happy 25th, and I hope you really enjoy whatever you end up choosing.
We were just on the Fascination in December and it was in great shape. My husband liked the lido and a few other public area's better than on the Legend since it was "brighter" It was a very easy ship to navigate also. The food was awsome. I cant say much for the CD at the time he wasnt very good so I didnt even remember his name. We were in E145 and our kids in E149 Plenty of room in those cabins for 2 .

Imagination just went thru Dry Dock last summer (rennovation) and have read and heard its very clean and in very good condition. I have read some very, very good recommendations lately. And I believe the Imagination is the #2 rated ship in the carnival fleet as far as overall customer satisfaction. We are going on it in June and looking forward to it!
My husband, daughter and I just returned from a cruise on the Imagination on 5/9/05. We took a 4 day cruise to Key West and Cozumel. This was my 2nd on Carnival and on the same ship I might add and my husband's and daughters first cruise.
My first cruise on this ship was 2 years ago and the ship, food and service was just how I remembered it..all very good. We all had a great time.
My daughter who is 12, really enjoyed Camp Carnival and her Teen Counselor Del. She was great with the kids and they even went horseback riding in Cozumel together.
I would highly recommend this ship as the staff is wonderful!
I've been on both ships as well, the Imagination once and will be going on the Fascination for the third time in 3 weeks, most recently being on it last April. Yes, the Imagination is newer, so there is more wear and tear on the Fascination, but both ships seemed fine to me.
