Default looking for a smooth sail

I noticed in the carnival book, the shape of the Spirit, Pride, Legend, and Miracle are not as wide as the other ships will this make for a more rocky ride. It figures I would notice that after booking the Legend for the start of hurricane season. Thanks

I've been on the Spirit and the Legend during hurricane season, I cruise in October and Novemnber. These new ships are much larger than Carnival's older ships in height and width, so I don't know which ships you're comparing them to. The ships are all equipped with stabilizers which seem to handle the movement problem very well. How much the ship rocks depends on how bad the seas are.

These ships are built to what is known as a PanaMax standard. They are exactly as wide and as long (maximum) as will fit through the panama canal. The vast majority of the modern cruise ships of the world are built to this standard. With that in mind there are perhaps a dozen or so larger ships out there being sailed by all cruise lines combined. Ships of this size and class will give you as good a ride as any ship on the sea, any size or cruiseline. In some respects maybe even better than the really big ships.
Legend sails very nicely and I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise.

PapaBill is exactly right on the Panamax type. I have been on both the Spirit and the Legend, twice, and they do ride quite well. We were in a Nor'Easter in the Legand when it did the Trans-Atlantic and the waves where huge and even striking the windows in the casino area. It was a bit rocky but not as bad as I thought it would be for those seas so I feel that they ride quite well. They are also longer than the other ships.

24 cruises and counting!

Thanks very much for the info, I was just a little concerned as I noticed that on the other ships they had four rooms across, and on the Legend it looked like only two and then it looks a little hollow in the middle, I do not mind a little motion I was thinking what if it tipped over. (silly me), but after reading the other stories I guess we will be just fine , thanks

The Spirt Class ship which you are booked on is great. I sailed on the Pride last April and thought that this was the nicest ship I had ever been on in the Carnival Fleet. It was smooth sailing all the way.

I had a room at the front port side right below the bridge bump outs on the Valor. The ship rocked but wasnt that bad. Actually it was kinda soothing.....
