We took DD on NCL last October when she was 13 months old. We took her to the KIDDIE pool almost every day. It was only a couple of inches deep so older kids weren't the least bit interested in it. In fact the only others we encountered in the pool were...get this...other babies in swim diapers!!!! GASP! I wouldn't consider putting my DD in any other pool other than the kiddie pool and definitely not a hot tub. She had a blast playing with other kids her age and all us parents had great time sharing kiddie stories.
BTW, DD and I just today finished up our parent-tot swim lessons at our local YMCA.
I have a 7 yr old child, and I for one hate to see a toddler or baby in the pool.
I heard a father say oh your diaper looks full and promply take the child in the pool
without changeing the diaper. I almost puked at that point.
We sailed the Glory and had no problem with our 2 yr old in the children's/kiddie pool. It was by Camp Carnival. What's the point in having a kiddie pool for the little ones if you can't bring them in there?
And I agree, with the comment, I'd rather deal with a diaper in a pool than someone too large to be able to wipe themselves properly. Amen to that. Or how about the people that stil go into pools with diseases that shouldn't?? That's gross.
