Default dressing for dinner

What sort of clothes are supposed to be worn for dinner? I'm not talking about formal night. I have two teenage sons who are not going to want to wear dress clothes every night. I know the buffet is a more casual option. Sailing on Conquest 6-12-05

The dining is a great experience, you will be seated with others as well throuhout the cruise (we had a table of 8)...... A nice dress shirt & dress pants will be OK, on formal nights add a sport coat with a tie..... If you dress down you may feel out of place...
On the Conquest the waiteras even laid the knapkin in your lap......

I have teen boys too and we're getting ready to pack for our 3rd family cruise. My boys wear khaki pants and tropical shirts for non-formal nights (they bring 2 pairs of pants and 2-3 shirts to mix/match). For formal night, they wear dress pants, dress shirt and tie and dress shoes. This is pretty much the teen boy "uniform" on Carnival.

I would encourage you to eat dinner in the dining room as a family each night. The food is great and it's nice to spend time together, sharing what everyone did that day. Let your boys know that they can change back into their casual clothes right after dinner....most teens do.

Yep, Cali-Croozer is right on the money about the dress for most teens. My son was balking at wearing "nicer" clothes each night, but one night in the dining room convinced him it was worth the bother!

I just bought for my 8th cruise for dinner to wear, 2 new pairs of jeans and cardigan sets, 2 skirts and tops. I never get overly dressed for reg nights...... For the dress up nights I will just wear a suit skirt and a top, and then the other night just a long flowy skirt and top.

I'd say jeans and a collar shirt would be fine. The last cruise my family and I went on, my brother (14 yrs) wore jeans and a collar shirt and nothing happened to him. I also wore jeans (even tho I'm a chick) so I don't think jeans are a big deal.

dockers type or cargo pants with either hawaiian print shirts or polo type shirts are what the majority of men and boys will be wearing on casual nights.
