Default Drydock: A Cruise Ship Reborn

I know this thread is for Carnival comments but I thought anyone who loves cruising would love to watch this.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Sunday on TLC from 8 - 10 pm PST they are showing the Sovereign of the Seas.

"A cruise ship undergoes a complete refitting in three weeks with most of the work done in drydock in the Bahamas. First up: RCI Sovereign of the Seas salils to Port Everglades, where a huge deck extension is lifted onto the ship, then to Freeport for the rest of the work."

In the second hour: "18 days remain, and 23 pre-fabricated staterooms must be fitted through a hole in the side of the ship."

Anne has written a great article on the rebuilding of a RCI ship on the homepage. Great reading and photos.

If you go to TLC homepage, they list the show, the name of each episode, date and time of first runs and repeats (each episode is on approx. 4 times this week). In case you've missed any, it's a great way to catch up.

Watched it with the husband and kids (10 and 12). They thought it was soooo cool. Having been on 2 cruises to date, the kids are really enjoy seeing what goes on behind the scenes.

Can't wait until next Sunday to see the continuation.

Happy Sailing.

CA Cruiser
I noticed that you are cruising on the Liberty. I was planning to cruise on the Liberty until the cruise company decided to reposition the ship to Europe for May 2006. I would like to know what you think about the ship when you return.
