My cruise on the Elation is September 11th.We are finally in double digets.
Let us know how you like your cruise and what are the best things to do. We are looking at the Merida tour and shopping in Progresso. Would like to know if there is a beach close by that we could go to when done shopping?

Can't wait to go on the Elation on July 31st. We will be driving to Galveston from Southwest Missouri also.

Well, we moved our reservation from 1-8-06 (ship going into drydock, cruise cancelled) to 1-1-06. I'll just scoop my cruising buddies up out of their beds @ 0700 and we'll be on our way to Galveston.

Is anyone else on the Elation 1-1-06?

If The Elation is going in to drydock in January '06...does anybody have any knowledge of what ship, if any, will be replacing it in Galveston?

There will not be any ship replacing it. If you made reservations to leave on 1-8, 1-15 or 1-22, you are just out of luck. I found out (quite by chance) on Cruisemates about 2 1/2 wks ago that the ship was going into drydock on 1-8 (the day we were supposed to sail).

I called Hotwire AND Carnival, and they professed to have no knowledge of any such thing (and they wanted to know how I had heard such a RUMOR), and then JUST confirmed it themselves about 3 days ago.

If the knowledge was available to someone on this message board, I am curious as to why Carnival continued to deny it.

I just spent the past week trying to juggle everyone's schedules (one of my roommates is in nursing school and returns to school on 1-16) and we finally opted to go a week earlier, on 1-1-06. It ended up costing us an extra $45.00 per person.

If you are schedule to sail out on the Elation on 1-8, 1-15 or 1-22, you will need to reschedule. Someone should be contacting you, and if not, call them.

We were on the Elation 6/19 and the beach ir right by the shopping area.
