Hi We booked a cruise on carnival victory december 3-11 2005 and our return flight home out of fort lauderdale fl is at 11am we are going to panama costa rica and belize Does anyone know when ship gets in december 11 2005 so we can tell if we can make this flight? Thank you for any help you can give me Bee
I agree...11:00 is TOO early. I just got off the Valor yesterday. It was a GREAT trip, but it took over 2 hours to get off...started the process at 9:45 and reached the gate (at Miami airport) around 1:00 - 1:30.
we carried off our own luggage --- the self-assist method starts at 730am usually.
we were off the ship and at the airport by 900am I believe....but the lines at the airport were horrible.....but this was in Miami ---
if you can change it to after noon you would be much better off. If however you can't do that it can be done, i wouldn't recommend it but if you get early disembarkation color tags and then take the ships transfer to the airport your chances are better. Not a guarantee but a better shot.
Though it's tight... in Ft Lauderdale.. it is most likely doable. Only understand that if customs and immigration delay the ship for some reason, you may be hassling at the airport looking for another flight option.
If things go smoothly debarking, and you grab a taxi, you could be at the airport by 9 AM.
I completely agree with all the above posters. Disembarking is a very iffy thing, some go great and some do not, one reason why we have started to stay over a night post cruise, much less stressful. If you can't do this, at least get a later flight. Ft. Lauderdale airport gets really congested on Sundays also, the one time I flew out of there, it was a nightmare. It's because a lot of ships cruise out of that port and they are all unloading a lot of passengers at the same time and the airport gets overwhelmed all at once. Better if you have to wait around a little for a later flight than miss an early one. Good luck.
