Our group is staying at the Ramada Inn near the air port-they pick you up when you get there and take you to the ship the next day.. All included.(airport cruiseport)
Looks nice on the web site.
We are on the Liberty March 4th 2006
we love the Embassy Suites, its a great place. Very pretty, great pool, nice big rooms. Cocktail hour and full buffet breakfast included. They pick you up at the airport and they also have a shuttle from the hotel to the pier ( hint: book the shuttle as soon as you check in, it fills up fast). Its very convenient, grocery store across the street, strip mall next door, good restaurants within walking distance.
Another really nice place to stay is the Marriott Marina - it right on the water, big yachts docked right at the hotel, really nice pool area with a cool bar that sits on the edge of the waterway, folks dock their boats, walk up the ramp and sit down for a "cold one" and a good sandwich.
I have stayed at the Hampton Inn and it was nice. It was a typical Hampton Inn ..... large clean rooms with continental breakfast. The one on 17th St has transportation to and from the airport and pier. There are also restaurants and stores within walking distance of the hotel.
I'm also looking for a hotel close to the Ft. Lauderdale cruise port. This is what I found in my AAA travel book: Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Suites, Ramanda Inn, Comfort Inn, Best Western and Amerisuites.
We got the Hyatt for $117 gov't rate for our pre-cruise stay. I think it's high because we are coming in Thanksgiving night and we couldn't get a good bid on Priceline. Then we bid on Priceline for a 3+* at $85 and got the Bahia Mar Beach Resort for our post-cruise day a week later.
