hockeyluver,
Check this one on TripAdviser.com. It received 1* and very BAD reviews and warnings NOT to stay there! They have reviews for all the hotels there. Maybe pick your area and do Priceline for a 4* at your price. They will give you a list of hotels you might get before you bid. We have always gotten a Hyatt or Sheraton for $80 and under (not in Miami) by bidding for a 4*. Lots of ppl get lucky this way. I think the cab ride is about $10 or $15. Good Luck.

yes I looked at it on trip advisor, it is just so confusing being from Canada and not knowing what the hotel chains are down in Florida. I have never used priceline or any of the other sites like it . I usually book from the hotels site.

I just went to Priceline and checked it out. If you do bid, you would want to bid on Miami Downtown and they will show you what brand of hotels you can get. Kuki wrote an article about Priceline that helped us. The only bad thing about it is you can't cancel once you are booked. Good luck.

I like to stay at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. It is a great location, right across the street from Bayside Marketplace where there are lots of restaurants, stores and entertainment. You can't get it from Priceline though.
If you do bid from Priceline, check out www.biddingfortravel.com before you bid. They will give you some guidelines on bidding and give you the hotels that have been won.

Re: Re: has anyone stayed at..
Hi,
We stayed at the Regency Airport Hotel in Miami. Having flown in from the U.K. not only did they do a free Airport Shuttle pick up to take you to the Hotel, they also offer a free shuttle down to the port the next day.
Cheap, comfortable, clean and free shuttle rides - we will be doing it again next Jan when we cruise on the new NCL Jewel out of Miami. Also withi easy walking distance of getting a choice of great breakfasts before you go down to the port.
Had friends that stayed at the Days Inn ... they would not stay there again, even if they were paid to stay ... everything from location (did not dare go out after dark) to room (so dirty they asked for new sheets and cleaning things) was horrible ... only stayed there as there were 9 of them and they arrived late evening ... to hard to find another ...
The Holiday Inn Port of Miami is also my choice. I have stayed there a few times. Taxi ride to the port is about $7.00.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson, in the port of Miami because the FREE SHUTTLE TO PORT caught my attention what a nightmare, I did not know better shame on me, and when we went to the little store to get some soda ect, we had a car full of men follow us around the block stirring at us we are very lucky we made it to our first cruise
