Default Carnival Pride or Spirit??

We're looking at either of these ships for a Mexican Riviera cruise....anyone been on both? For a family with teenagers, which is your preference and why?

2nd Question...although advertising is probably not permitted here, is it better to pick an online site to book, or go thru Carnival direct?

My fiance and I are booked on the 8 Day MR on Spirit on 12/18. We are really looking forward to going. I have been on a 7 Day out of LA on Elation and frankly any cruise is awesome and everyone in your family will love it.

As far as booking I booked through a cruise broker that I have used numerous times. His name is Tom Kleefish and his email is kleefish@covad.net. Everytime I have booked with them they have saved me money. They really are the best people I cannot say enough about them. I have worked with them for over 6 yrs.

Some people like to go directly with Carnival and I hear that is great too.

Good Luck on finding a cruise.

Cynda, I've been on both ships -- they are sisters.

Decor-wise, I prefer the Spirit -- a little brighter interiors.

If you've never been the standard Mexican Riviera is great. But we went to Acapulco about two years ago for the different ports (which were great).

I would say the teens will enjoy either, though Acapulco has 2 days at sea down an 2 days at sea back, while the Pride has only 3 sea days.

Hope that helps.

Harry

Harry, how does the Carnival Spirit compare to RCCL's Vision of the Seas?

Did you get any information? We traveled on the Pride without Teenagers - last year. We are traveling on the Spirit this fall for Thanksgiving with 15 & 16 year old. My husband and I spent quite some time in the Piano bar - very relaxing. Lots or teenagers traveling in groups hanging around - although not suppose to. They got tired of their clubs...Many youngsters the Teens - 15 to 20 were too old for their clubs and too young for ours. So they kinda invited themselves in to our hang-outs.

Cynda,

The Spirit is much larger and offers a lot more options especially in the buffet restaurant -- there are several stations with different varieties of food. My personal fave is the deli.

You won't have the abundance of glass, as Vision; however, the decor is very cool, in which all rooms evoke different design styles -- Art Deco, Louis XIV (in the casino-one of the most beautiful I've ever seen); Art Nouveu etc.

It's a wonderful ship -- been on her twice.

Harry

I'm a teen and have been on both the Spirit and the Pride, although the Spirit was to Alaska, not Mexico.

It seemed like the interiors of the Spirit were a bit nicer than the Pride but other than that there was not a lot of difference since they are sisters.

If it were up to me I'd choose the Spirit simply because the cruise is one day longer with one extra day of fun.
