Hi everyone,me and my wife are sailing on the Sensation out of New Orleans,La on September 15 and i want to know how soon should we be there to avoid long lines and possible getting left behind.And whats the best parking place there.
We sailed out of New Orleans on the Conquest and got there at 10:30am. The port is a mess with all the construction, so a little later would have been better. But, I like to get on the ship as soon as I can and we were on by noon, enjoying the "drink of the day".
For parking, try the port's website for directions and information: www.portno.com
We always get there around 11.00 am. Drop off luggage, and go park. Walk down the board walk, do some window shopping, and make our way down to the cruise terminal.
Make sure you have all your doc's filled out and ready to be presented. Don't forget your birth cert. either and a picture ID.
As a general rule, we're on the ship and eating dinner by 1.00 pm. With all the construction, going on, visit the web site that cali-croozer gave you. Things have changed there since 2003, on my last cruise.
Happy Sailing;
david

We're cruising out of there on 10/2 on the Conquest. Bearly got a hotel for the night before. I called 7 seven different ones and they were all sold out! Anyway, our friends TA got us in at the Holiday Inn Select across from the Convention Center, which is right near the cruise terminal. The have a "park and cruise" special which is one night stay, parking for the week, bottle of wine and shuttle service. The ship sails at 6 pm, so we won't be rushing, but we love the "drink of the day" as soon as possible, too! The Riverwalk is nice, but I'm sorry to hear about the construction. It wasn't there last February.
