Maybe you could get one of those Wave sound players that would calm you until you cruise again...!!

Maine Matt:

Congrats. However, know how you feel. We are facing our last cruise this coming spring. Sad knowing the end is near for a while. Kids are getting older and want to play spring sports at school, which is a good thing.

Keep that Carnival glass from your Drink of the Day and put all your extra grocery $ in it. When you have enough saved, booked that next trip. It won't take as long as you think.

Enjoy your new place.

Yes do start saving and the start looking for that one cheap great cruise a year or more away and you will have one on the books.
Once you decide which ship and ports you want mark you calendar and say We will cruise this month on the year of. Now it won't seem so far away.
Then by the time you have all of the ports checked out and know what you want to do it will be time to book it with your TA.

Dreaming of cruising and cruising to make my dreams come true.

My first cruise was totally opposite to yours, maine. My first cruise was 7 months AFTER we bought our first, and only house. We've owned the house for 3 years now, and I've done 3 cruises.

Congratulations on your new house. It feels wonderful to be a homeowner, doesn't it?

Congrats on your new home ! i know you'll enjoy it for years to come. The key is, don't buy more house than you can afford. They'll tell you , that you qualify for a $200.000.00 + home (example) . But the trick is, don't buy more than you can comfortablily pay.

This is funny, I just had the same conversation with my son a week ago. They where telling him that he could afford alot more than he was looking at. I was glad to see him find a home in the price range he was looking for. They will close on there new home at the end of the month.

Last night, he said the same thing you just said ! "No more cruises for awhile." I told him if all else fails, use his tax refund checks for vacation. And that maybe an option for you.

Once again, congrats on your new home;
david

We use any unbudgeted money as a special vacation fund. This includes are tax refund, which now that you are a proud homeowner might be pretty large!

Congratulations - it's a great feeling.

I don't know what part of the country you live in, but here in New Orleans during Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest alot of home owners rent their house out for a week for enough money to pay for a 7 day cruise..see you can have the best of both worlds, just get a very large damage deposit (VBG)

Congrads on your new home. It's scary, but a great feeling all in one. I think you will find you will have a little more money, with the tax breaks from owning your own. Don't give up the dream, you'll be back on the open seas before you know it.

Well thanks everyone, you help me to keep my chin up. I am in the process right now of convincing my fience (sp) that we have to cruise for our honeymoon. I hopefully will be able to use tax money for a trip but oil prices are rising and up here in Maine it is cold more than it is warm. I will look forward to my next cruise and appreciate it alot more when it comes.

Our first cruise was our honeymoon-- in hindsight, I know we planned cruise as the honeymoon trip, but in the end-the envelopes our "cash" we received at wedding helped cover major expenses.
It was then 16 years before another cruise-talk about a drought.
Then 4 years for 20th and now 9months until next to cure the post cruise blues.
So look for creative ways to finance and keep knowing homes generally go up in value!

Congrats on buying a house. Just do what someone else suggested and save up all your change,etc. Maybe in 2 years you will be cruising again!?!
Here in Canada we do not have $1and $2 bills anymore-just coins so that could add up quickly! Hey....., maybe I should try that!!

Matt, first solution is to move South ! We have warmer winter's , but hot, hot, summer's !

You will be cruising again ! Once your bittin by the cruise bug, then your infected for life !
Save your money, through the year. Open a special account just for vacations. $10.00 here, $20.00 there, it adds up quickly .

Once again, congrats on your new home;
david

P.S.
Once those little munchkins start coming, then cruising will be cut short for a few years.
