Have you left Cozumel? Are you going to race storm into NOLA?

Anyone sailing on Conquest on Sunday (08/28)? Any word on itinerary changes? Delays?

I believe the Conquest is in "dry dock" for a couple weeks.

The Conquest still has to return to New Orleans this coming Sunday to unload the passengers currently onboard before she departs for her drydocking. Since Hurricane Katrina is not predicted to make landfall until Monday afternoon the Conquest should be able to depart New Orleans Sunday prior to the hurricane's approach. She might just have to take a more southerly course on her way to the Bahamas in order to sail around Katrina.

Hey Marc
What year were you on Britannis? We were on her in 1988, our first cruise. The Dining room staff, as well as the captain and his immediate staff were all Greek and gave us superior service. The food was incredible! The midnight buffets, unbelieveable! At the time of our sailing this ship was the oldest passanger ship at sea. There was a big room like a long hallway with a mirror and a lot of electrical outlets where all the ladies would blow dry and curl their hair as our staterooms did not have electrical outlets. I remember having to step up every time you entered a public room. The main showroom was very tiny. But heck it was my first cruise, and I was having a great time. The showroom dancers mingled a whole lot with the passangers. Did you know that this ship now lays at the bottom of the ocean, as it sank on the way to the scrapyard.

Libby, I sailed Britannis in November, 1985. Also my first cruise. As a bachelor, it was wonderful as they put me at a table filled with singles.

I sure hope the Conquest sailors are having a fun day sailing into NOLA tonight.

Conquest Update: the current sailing that was scheduled to return to New Orleans Sunday morning is being rerouted to Galveston for debarkation due to Hurricane Katrina's projected path.. The Conquest will then depart Monday afternoon for her scheduled two-week drydock at the Grand Bahamas shipyard.

Here is the complete announcement from Carnival site:

Tropical Weather Update

August 27, 2005 - 8:00 PM

We have been closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Katrina. At Carnival, the safety of our guests and crew is our number one priority. All of our ships will be navigated at a safe distance from this storm at all times.

We have made the following storm-related itinerary changes:

NEW ORLEANS CRUISES

Due to the closure of the entrance to the Mississippi river by local officials, The Carnival Conquest August 21, 2005 cruise will return to Galveston, Texas on August 28, 2005. The ship will stay in Galveston until Monday at 12:00 noon. Guests can debark either Sunday or Monday and take air or land transportation back home. All in-coming access into New Orleans and the Port is now closed due to the evacuation process. Guests that parked at the pier in New Orleans will not be able to access their cars until the storm passes and there is a complete assessment of the area. The Port of New Orleans hotline (1-866-476-7866) will provide updated information about access to the port area as it becomes available.

MOBILE CRUISES

The Holiday August 25, 2005 departure will be delayed arriving back to Mobile. Depending on the actual speed and path of the storm, the ship may arrive on August 30, 2005.

The Holiday August 29, 2005 departure will be delayed and depends on the arrival from the previous cruise. It may be revised to a 4 day cruise departing on August 30, 2005.

We will provide additional information on these cruises as soon as it's available.

MIAMI CRUISES

The Imagination 4 day cruise on August 25, 2005 will change to a 2 day cruise departing on Saturday, August 27, 2005.

The Fascination 3 day cruise on August 26, 2005 will change to a 2 day cruise departing on Saturday, August 27, 2005.

TAMPA CRUISES

The Carnival Miracle August 21, 2005 cruise will return to Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) on August 28, 2005. Motorcoach transportation will be provided to the Port of Tampa and the Tampa airport.

The Carnival Miracle August 28, 2005 cruise scheduled to depart from Tampa will now depart from Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale). The ship will return to Tampa as scheduled on September 4, 2005.

Motorcoach transportation will be provided from both the Tampa airport and the pier at the Port of Tampa to Port Everglades. Transportation will be available between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Guests arriving at the Tampa airport should proceed to the baggage claim area and Carnival staff will direct you to the pickup location.

For guests driving to Tampa, it is very important that you DO NOT drive to Port Everglades. Please park at the pier in Tampa and take the motorcoach to Port Everglades. The ship will return to Tampa at the end of the cruise. For guests that purchased air transportation from Carnival, your incoming flight will be changed to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and you will be contacted with the new flight information.

Guests will be provided at $50 per person onboard credit.

The Inspiration August 25, 2005 cruise will return to Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) on August 29, 2005. Motorcoach transportation will be provided to the Port of Tampa and the Tampa airport.

The Inspiration August 29, 2005 cruise scheduled to depart from Tampa will now depart from Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale). The ship will return to Tampa as scheduled on September 3, 2005.

I'm really sorry for the folks that have have had their plans changed with this storm. I'm praying for LA and AL since it looks like they will get most of the storms too.

I appreciated that Carnival is, as I'm sure other lines are too, working to make other arrangements, rather then cancelling all together.

I hope all are safe in the coming days!!
