O.K. I was reading on the carnival page about past privileges and gold & platnium sail and sign cards gets you in for the cocktails now can somebody tell me how all this works for we will be going on our 2nd cruise in May-06.
Does this apply on 2nd cruises?
Would we have to sign up for anything?

Thanks for any info!

Hi Georgia Girl,

No need to sign up for anything. The gold sign & sail card will be given to you at embarkation, and the invitation to the past guest party will be delivered to your stateroom.

Have fun!

Hi Dorothy,

Gold is 2 cruises and up, and the platinum (someone please correct me here if I'm wrong) is either 10 or 11 and up.

The cocktail party was on both of my past 5 day cruises. They had waitresses walking around with trays full of wine, champagne, popular mixed drinks. My husband went to the bar and requested crown and coke. They gave it to him at no charge. Maybe he was lucky but if you don't like whats on the tray give it a try up at the bar. Funship Freddie also makes an appearance so bring the kids if they are with you.

Re: past quest & cocktail

I think people are confusing two different parties. The past guest party is by invitation only and is held in the auditorium where the nightly shows are held. It's about an hour long, maybe a little more. The waitstaff serves ready made drinks and hors d'oeuvres. There's usually a band and you can dance up on the stage. There's a little talk about Carnival and a short film or slide show of what Carnival's history and plans for the future. The captain will introduce the some of the crew members.

The Captains' party is held on formal night just prior to dinner and is open to everyone. The captain welcomes you on board. There's a band and dancing on a small dance floor. There are hot hor d'oeurves. and you have the option of the ready made drinks or using the bar in the room.

Re: past quest & cocktail

This past April was our 2nd cruise. Both our trips had been 5 night cruises. We returned to our room one day to find envelopes with the invitation and a nice Carnival tack pin with the ship name on it. The invitation was to the Past Guest Party.

As previously noted, it was a party for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours where the staff welcomed you back, served snacks and drinks (and you can get whatever you would like at the bar - enjoyed a delicious Strawberry Daquiri from the bar). They did do a slide show and the kids were invited and attended as well.

Enjoy your planning. Glad to hear you have booked again.

Safe sailing.

what exactly is the gold sign and sail card ? Is it different from the regular card ?
We leave 9/25 on the Elation.

Re: past quest & cocktail

The Gold Sail and Sign card is shades of Gold instead of Red, White, and Blue.

So, when you order stuff, enter your room etc everyone can see that you are a past guest. The idea is you SHOULD get better service from the staff. I will find out in March if it works that way or not.

Re: past quest & cocktail

make sure you know your past passenger number. i was given the wrong card after 6 carnival cruises and had to change it onboard to get the invitation. the drinks are premade you cannot order whatever you want. they do a raffle and then you watch a long commercial for Carnival cruises. it is fun to talk to other cruisers though.
