Default good older kid/teen cruise from NY

We are looking at the end of next summer to plan a cruise out of NY/NJ with our kids.
They've done disney cruise before & loved it. But now we're a little older at 12 , 14, & 15 and would like some feedback on good choices out of the city for late august or early sept next year.

anyone have any suggestions. We are going to have a longer summer break than usual (thru sept 7th) next year and were hoping to find an inexpensive option for cruising with them

thanks

We were on the Voyager this summer with my kids, ages 16 and 12. There was so much to do on this ship...rock climbing, ice skating, in line skating, full court basketball, pools, ping pong, plus all the teen activities. I believe it will be the Explorer going out of Bayonne next year, and will have all the same features. We did the 5-nt to Bermuda. It wasn't cheap, but well worth what we did spend on the cruise.

Looks like the Carnival Legend will cruise 8 night trips out of NY next year. Haven't been on that ship, but we've brought our boys on 3 Carnival cruises so far and they have loved each one. They cruised with us at ages 11 and 13, 13 and 15 and, our last cruise on the Conquest, ages 15 and 17. The Carnival ships have year round children and teen programs. The oldest age groups, which your kids would be in, are ages 12-14 (Camp Carnival) and Club02 for ages 15-17. There will be daily activities for them to choose from, as well as swimming, pool slide, ping pong, volleyball, basketball (certain ships) and, of course, 24/7 pizza and soft serve ice cream. Both of my kids met kids their age on each of the cruises through Camp Carnival and Club02. The activities are age appropriate and the counselors are great. The later in the summer you cruise, the less expensive it will be (hurricane season), but there will be less kids on the cruise if you sail when most other schools are in session.

Princess is building a new ship called the Crown Princess which will be debuting in June 2006 and it will be sailing from New York.

If you don't mind getting back a couple of days late..........the price of the Legend drops dramatically for the Sept 1, 06 sailing. Think of it as an early field trip to foreign lands

Our son was 16 last summer when we took him on the Legend. He loved it! This year we went on a different line out of NY and he refuses to go with us again unless it's on Carnival.

I took my son on the Carnival Pride 8/2003 out of NY to Bermuda and he had a blast. This time we are going to sail out on the Lengend 10/05 Eastern Caribbean and I am sure he's going to have a great time once again.
