We should all take a moment today and say a prayer in silence that the people in La and New Orleans don't get hit hard and no one is hurt when Karina hits that area. I live in Florida so I have witnessed first hand what damage and despair a Hurricane in that catagory can do. Our thoughts and prayers are with all in that area! Ro and Kenny
I strongly agree. Please everyone take a few minutes to send a prayer for the people in the path of Katrina. My heart goes out to them and the only way those of us far from the area can help at this time is to say a prayer for them.

Prayers are going out to them but we must understand that the size and strenght of this hurricane is trememdous with winds sustained at over 175MPH right now and it is still getting stronger! This storm will unfortunately leave many dead in the NO area and probably destroy many historic places as well as causing mass and widespread destruction all over the gulf coast area. The ONLY sensable thing is to leave the area immediately. This has me pretty upset as I know that people are soon going to die needlessly and it breaks my heart to see that happen. I hope people have listened to the authorities and have left the area.
Yes I feel for all of those in the path of Katrina. Also all of the passnegers aboard the Conquest who can not go to get there cars. They must also find a different way home from there cruise. I pray they all find a safe way home and that there lose not be so great. We know that the residients of NO are trying there best to leave and I hope most make it out safe.

I was in the path of Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Lily. We were without power, etc for 3 1/2 weeks. It was plum miserable -- pee in a pot, go dump it in the field. Yep, that is the truth. Many people lost everything. For years after, the sound of a chainsaw sent chills down my spine. We are getting lucky with this one, as it is just east of us. I am from New Orleans and this one is going to be bad - more so for the Mississippi area since it is on the east side. I pray for those people and their safety. One day with the technology we have, I hope hurricanes will be a thing of the past. We can do everything else...why not stop a hurricane? Had a friend on the Conquest - they let off in Galveston today with a 200 shipboard credit and 25% of a future cruise. I wonder if the airport will still be there in N.O. We leave on our cruise in 3 weeks from the N.O. airport. to Vancouver. Might have to find another plane ride. Stay safe!
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
Re: Hurricane and New Orleans
Rob - the ONLY good thing about this whole story is that the Conquest is scheduled to go into drydock after the cruise that was to end on Sunday! They are staying an extra day in Galveston and then will be heading to the ship yard in the Bahamas for a dry dock.
Prayers for all in Katrina's path............may God watch over all.

From what I see on the news updates coming in, the
surrounding areas of New Orleans are under many feet
of water and it's just as bad along the Gulf through Mississippi
and into Mobile Alabama. Still waiting to see if there is
much left, if anything, out on the Barrier Islands.
Im from Louisiana living in Tx now....La. was VERY fortunate....once more, thank GOD! It could have been so much worse. The east side has water,a few ppl are missing and its too early to tell just what the damage is going to be.There was only 2 six foot rips out of the roof on the superdome,it held up well...I think our prayers for N.O. was answered.
And I wish all the best to our friends to the east. They should be (and Im sure they are) in our prayers too.
NO really dodged the bullet so to speak. I am sure we will hear of extensive damage but rest assured that because of the last minute jog to the east by the hurricane NO was spared. If it hit head on or slightly to the west of NO it would be changed forever and the death toll would be high. Thank God or whoever you wish but that town was lucky.
