Default Great Carnival Travel Agent

As a first time cruiser, I booked with Carnival (Conquest March 2006). The travel agent that I have is the greatest. Always answers emails and phone calls promptly and is very courteous. Carnival is very busy at this time but she took the time to answer my email and phone call, so I could re-adjust our trip plans.

Booking with Carnival here is the one you want.

I have to agree our PVP,***edited to delete advertising***
has also been great. He is a very polite gentleman who has been
helping us with our cruise for several months. Sounds like
Carnival has some professional people working for them that
take their jobs seriously.

I don't think you can post the name on the boards. Don't be surprised if the thread vanishes.

I agree, as well. I booked through Carnival ***edited to delete advertising***, waaaaay back in March. He patiently answered all of my email questions, very quickly. I was nervous about booking without the help of a local TA, and now won't do it any other way. Carnival's PVP program worked wonderfully for me, and I can't say enough about Ryan's humor and expertise when answering both my mundane, and intricate questions.

Kudos to Carnival...and here we come, 9/18 on the Victory!

They really HAVE been super, haven't they?!

In retrospect I'd have to agree.

The biggest reason I have against booking with a Carnival Personal Vacation Planner is that they are employees of Carnival.

If something goes wrong, and you need your "case" to be carryed to the cruise line, with a TA you have someone to represent you. Someone who works for Carnival isn't going to be going to bat for you for quickly or putting in much effort for you.

I would agree with Kuki above that it would be very hard for them to fight your case for you however I have booked with a private TA no problems...and also a PVP with no problems. Both were wonderful. Answered my calls and emails and time and EVERYTHING was taken care of and more from both.

I'm glad you had a booking experience and I don't doubt Carnival's reservations staff is excellent. But that said, I want to point out the downside of booking directly with any cruise line.

I recommend using an outside travel agent for these reasons:

Anytime you seek information directly from a cruise line, the answer will be biased.

There may be a better deal on a better ship available, but you'll only hear this from a travel agent.

In general, the cruise line pays travel agents a 15% commission for your booking. Has any cruise line ever discounted your ticket this amount when you go directly?

These are a few broad reasons I recommend buying your cruise ticket through a travel agent.

I love my Travel Agent. He has worked his tail off since all of this mess started. The nice thing I do not have to pay him more money for his efforts.
As he said it is times like this that it pays to have a TA.

MY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU TA'S GREAT JOB!! AND YES I STILL GET TO CRUISE ON 9/11 Do you think that the date has anything to do with why it all fell apart???

Dreaming of cruising and cruising to make my dreams come true.

Anne,
Shortly after booking with Carnival PVP, I found that the cost of thecabin I had booked had gone down. I emailed my Carnival PVP about the lower fare. She called me back instantly and advised that not only was the cost lower, she had found a special Carnival had and lowered it even further. A total of &160.00 savings for both my DW and myself.
As I stated this is our first cruise and I am learning from these boards, but for now I like what I have seen dealing directly with Carnival.

I Love my TA too. Thanks to Cruisemates I found her. She is the best, and has been an angel through all this. I'm the type of person who needs a TA. Someone who can read my thoughts and tell me what I need.

God Bless HER

Luanne
