A Few More Questions Before I Cruise

Hi everyone!!! Yes I am getting anxious...If you old salts don't mind a few more questions....We are on the Celebration Sept 15-19th...

1)We Have cabin U23...Has any one stayed here? or near here? Is there much motion? Can you open the window?

2) Does anyone actually sleep on these cruises?? it just seems that there is too much going on to sleep...

3) Our first port is Freeport..Any advice for cheap shopping?? Going basically broke but are hoping to bring back a little something for the family..
4)Shore excursion in Nassau...going to Blue Lagoon with snorkling..Has anyone done this?

Thanks for putting up with my numerous questions...I am just too excited!!!

I was in U22 and it was just fine. As far aas Blue Lagoon, we swam with the dolphins. Most exciting thing I have ever done. No you don't get much sleep on a cruise, just enough to keep you going. On the plane ride home I always sleep all the way. Have a great cruise I love them.

Hi, Angela,

We cruised on the Celebration in May and out of our 3 cruises on CCL, this one was our best. The ship and crew are WONDERFUL!!!!

<<<<<<1) Can you open the window?>>>>>>>>
No, you will not be able to open the window. The breeze up on deck is wonderful. Now, if you had a balcony, you could open the door, but this is hard to do when the ship is sailing because the force of the air and draft into the cabin is pretty stiff.

<<<<<<<2) Does anyone actually sleep on these cruises?? it just seems that there is too much going on to sleep...>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yes, people do sleep. There is lots to do, but you won't enjoy it all if you are exhausted, in my opinion.

<<<<<<<<<<3) Our first port is Freeport..Any advice for cheap shopping?? Going basically broke but are hoping to bring back a little something for the family..>>>>>>>>>>
Since you are stopping in Nassau, go to the straw market. Tons of stuff for sale, everything from jewelry to clothes to bags to paintings, etc. Don't be afraid to negotiate - believe me, these people want to sell their stuff, and will do so cheap if you ask.

<<<<<<<<<<4)Shore excursion in Nassau...going to Blue Lagoon with snorkling..Has anyone done this?>>>>>>>>>>
Haven't done this personally as I don't swim so DH hangs out with me on land, but there is lots to do and snorkeling is always popular.

Enjoy!

Angela, I'll be on the Celebration the end of October. I know how excited you are - because I am too!

Please be sure to tell us all about it when you get back. I've read so many reviews and visited the photo galleries so much I almost feel like this isn't my first cruise.

Have a great time.

Hello,

Blue Lagoon is a very relaxing place. You can swim with the dolphins/sting rays, snorkel, lay in hammocks, shop (1 or 2 little store, I would reccomend not shopping at the ones on blue lagoon, but the ones near the ship where you can bargain with the locals.) Or just relax at the beach side.
Hope you have a great time

For shopping in Freeport, go to Port Lucaya. Tons of taxis right at the pier will take you directly there (about a 30 minute drive - forget the cost, but I think it was around $10 pp). There's a straw market, some good restaurants, Basie Square (where Count Basie once played) usually with live music, lots of regular shops, a HUGE casino and free access to a beautiful beach.

We shopped, played on the beach (all sorts of beach toys to rent, too) and went back to the ship around lunchtime.

Freeport isn't much to look at when you pull up, but Port Lucaya is pretty. There is also an International Shopping Mall (you pass it on the way to Port Lucaya) that lots of people went to, but we wanted a straw market for trinkets.
