ok...so now that I've read posts and gone all sentimental for my trip on the Conquest....what port is it starting and returning to now that Katrina has made a mess of New Orleans? Has the itinerary changed ? Maybe I need to go again !

Hey Bob

The island is wonderful. When you come over the Bridge to Galveston, you go down about 1.5 miles and trun Left. The Port is on the left of the island and you can see the ships from down town. Lots of great places to eat and surf shops. The seawall blvd is on the other side of the islland and it too has great food and motels and hotels. The gulf beach is OK not as great as the Florida beaches. There is a Huge Wal-mart and Joes Crab shack and Gaidos. The food is gooooood. We have left there on two cruises and Im not UNhappy that we are leaving from there again.
Happy Cruising!!!!!

We will drive down & take the Ferry crossing to avoid Houston..... We lived in Corpus Christi for a couple of years & drove through Galveston but went on through..... Ordered a map of the city..... Our cruise is Oct. 30th so may get a motel a day before & a day after.... They have a Oktoberfest & a Greek festival on the weekends...... Fun to plan....
