I have not used my Nextel there, but my agent told me back in January (before their merger with Sprint) that you had to call Nextel and have international calling enabled . Service is available, but I don't recall the charges for calls from there.
I was just down there this past March and I didn't get any service on my phone, I didn't call them and tell them I wanted to call from there but if I am correct we in the United States use a different band then most other contries for cell phones. The best line of communication is post cards remember you are on vacation. They also have the internet on the ship for any emergencies you think you might encounter.
You must be joking! Sometimes our Nextel doesn't work 3 miles down the street and we live just outside Chicago - no even out in the boondocks. (OK - OK, slight exageration. The radio feature works but not the phone)
Thanks for the information. I called Nextel, spelled Cozumel three times for her, ask her to put her supervisor on the phone, and after 35 minutes of her trying to find it on the map, I hung up. Sometimes I think they are hopeless. Thanks again.
