We are cruising on the Triumph (2/11/06). We will be flying into Miami that morning. Is it best to book a transfer through Carnival or catch a taxi from the airport to the port? Not sure what the taxi fares are in Miami. Also, does anyone have any good information concerning embarkation/debarkation at Miami.
Taxi fare is going to run you $20 per cab not per person. Just make sure you pick it up at the cab stand at the airport. A cab lets you board at your own pace and not have to wait for others. It is usually less expensive for two people than cruise line transfers. The cruise line transfer is a bit easier because they do have cruise line representatives in the airport to direct you to the baggage area and to the bus. You still have to claim your luggage for them to put on the bus.
The cab will drop you at the port and the baggage handlers will take your bags. Just tell the cab driver what ship and cruise line. Make sure your cruise line luggage tags are on your bags (put them on at the airport) and tip the luggage handlers a couple of bucks a bag. They will direct you where to go to check in.
Take care,
Mike (Who usually takes a cab to the ship)

Take the taxi. It will save you time and a lot of trouble. It is a short trip
from the airport to the Port of Miami. Embarkation is easy at Miami and
usually goes smoothly.
Happy Sailing.............
Hey WAC, we will also be cruising on 2/11 on the Triunph. Can't wait! Flying in that morning also and pretty much decided that we would do the taxi thing. On the return however, we have a late flight and will probably do a tour/airport transfer.
How about getting cabs that use a van. With 13 people, you'll need a few. Call the hotels around the airport and see if they'll provide transportation for you. ( Just a thought )
Also, look into renting a van. With 13 people chipping in, that would bring the cost down per person.
Good luck on getting everybody there;
David
