Hi -- I can't decide on if I should do a eastern cruise to bahamas, st thomas and st martinque OR a western cruise to cozumel, caymons and jamaica. I have been to all but long time since I have been on an eastern cruise. Both the Conquest and Glory are offering basically the same price - so its if I want to spend the extra $$ on the air fare to do an eastern cruise. Don't want to spend a whole lot on excursions as I am just getting back from Alaska and spent enough $$ there on excursions! Just want to 'cruise' and april (easter) is the month. Any suggestions out there?? Thank you!
If it has been awhile since you cruised the western route, I'd choose that one. We went back to the western caribbean last Jan after several years. We were very impressed with the upgrades made in Ocho Rios. there is a new pier and shopping village that is secure. There is a margarittaville there with their own beach area. We are repeating that cruise and going again this Jan with my sister and brother in law.
I'd go with the Western Caribbean, if I was making the choice. It always seems more interesting and more adventuresome than the Eastern Caribbean. Don't bother with the shore excursions, my best shore excursions recently have been local tours that I found on the piers or by just walking into town to see what happened.
How was your trip. I haven't seen a review. As far as your question is concerned, which location did you enjoy the best Western, or Eastern?
I am still trying to do a Eastern. It's cruising, so you can't go wrong.
Julia, I haven't seen you on here before. Welcome. I notice your from Boise. My husband's family is from there. I also see your advertizing. I didn't know Cruisemates had another Travel Agency.
Eastern is more for shopping and being in basically and American setting. Very much like Florida except a lot prettier. The Western is for more excursions and water activities. There is of course shopping. You are also in two countries that are unlike the USA being Mexico and Jamacia. GC is simuliar to the USA.
