My vote is also for John Heald. He is the best. He is a true professional and has the charisma of a Jay Leno, or a Johnny Carson. Corey Schmidt comes in second place for me. He was very, very good as well, but I have heard that his birds died and he is no longer working as a CD. That is sad. I hope that he gets back on board as a CD someday!
Paul Santley were also all wonderful.
COMPLETES THE FLEET
If it is Carnival and it floats....we have sailed it!
Hubby ... DIAMOND (every ship except the Carnivale)
Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND
For me, it would be Todd Whitmer (Conquest). Before our Conquest cruise, we never even thought about the cruise director; on the Conquest, you couldn't miss him---he was EVERYWHERE! I don't think he's human because he never sleeps, or so it seems!
Ok second to John Heald--Black guy from Alabama name was Maraschall--not sure of spelling but it was a funky variation on "Marshall." He was a great and gracious cruise director funny as he**, snappy dresser and kind person which I found out when he spoke to me sincerely and kindly about something very sad that happened to me which he knew personally about. The whole ship loved him.
Besides John and Marashcall there was this funny and also sooo sweet so gracious social host guy named Malcolm something who was sooo good with people he made dealing with people an art--I was so impressed, no one was embarassed or humilaited he was so smooth and yet so sweet. I hope he is a cruise director now bcs he was a total asset to Carnival.
Wish I could remember some more by name.
Can we talk about the worst?
OH MY GOSH there was this woman social host for New Orleans--i dont remember her name but she was medium height and build long black hair, Asian and was the worst EVER---she was so snotty, embarassed people, smoked on lido deck, was totally rude! Especially to young women. She was on two cruises I was on and having fallen victim to her the first time I avoided her like the plague the second time. I would be suprised if she still works there she does not fit in--they are usually AWESOME!
John Heald was on my first cruise and well...you know there's no cruise like your first cruise!
John is one of the very best that have ever come down the line and yes he certainly has training many if not most of the current CD's with CCL. I also think that Michael Mullane and Mark Price are right up there with John and are not clones of him either but are making their own mark and name for themselves. I bvelieve that Mark Price will soon be CCL's top CD when John leaves. Many new ideas and new excitement.
I have only been on one cruise but the CD there was Awesome. Larry Garlutzo was funny and very talented. He was the performer one night and was better than any other performer on the ship. I believe he doesa show in Vegas on his time off.
John Heald. My dh described him in his Glory review as "ham on wry."
He makes you feel as though your cruise is his only concern.

I'd give my vote to MARK PRICE for sure! I thought he just did an awesome job on the GLORY cruise. Corey was right up there also, I hated to seem him leave with his birds. Mark Price certainly wins in the "looks" department, but then that's not important!..lol.
of the two cruises i have been on neither of the cd's were exceptional but the assistand cd on the legend Chris Jefferson was awsome!! while on our cruise he was notified of his promotion to cruise director!
Next up Elation Aug 23 '10
then the Miracle again Feb 7,2011
Well, I have been on 2 cruises in the last year, and I honestly have to say that Josh Riffle was my favorite.... We had Mark Price on our honeymoon cruise, and he was great, but I really thought that Josh was really funny, and made me feel comfortable.... plus he was great eye candy... hehe!
A bad cruise is still better than a good week at work!!!
Fascination, My Birthday Cruise!
10-02-05 Valor My favorite yet!
10-23-04 Triumph (Honeymoon of my dreams)
Helen, you are in luck! Mark Price will be your Cruise Director and Wee Jimmy will probably be the Asst CD. Both are outstanding and you will love them. I am lucky enough that I can call both of them personal friends.
Will be sailing on the Legend in Dec 05, anybody know who the cruise director will be? Any good? Sailed on the Glory in Dec 03, David Kneale rings a bell. He was British. Was that David Kneale? Anyone know who the cruise director was on the Spirit in 01? Was on the Tropicale in 93, the cruise director was David Fee. Anyone remember him?
Our best cruise director was Danny Corbeille, Starward '87.
My favorite is the recently retired Greg Kneale. I have gotten to know Greg and he is a sincere person and was a wonderful cruise diector. John Heald is of course top notch but Greg's bedtime story is certainly as good if not better.wee Jimmy will be right up there when he gets full time cd position.never had them but I hear Paul Santly and Mark Price are excellent. Malcolm's last name is Burn and have heard a lot good about him.It is a matter of taste but I believe a cruise director can make a big difference on a cruise.
