The first time I was there was march-1983. The last time was feb. 2005.
I have been there many times in between and this came to be one of my favorite ports. From ' 83 to '05 Cozumel had grown so much and now looks to be destroyed. I really feel for those folks, as well as all the people right here at home that has suffered all this destruction.

Horrible damage! Cozumel is probably our favorite port for shopping and feeling safe. Reports are out now that they will start receiving cruiseships november 14th and possibly they will have one pier up and working but they are prepared to tender in if necessary. The electricity is back on in some areas and they are restoring it quickly. As you can see, they have the debris piled up in the streets and they are right now removing it. All is hoped to be cleared up and the stores back in operation in two weeks. All the citizens of Cozumel have been chipping in and helping each other restore the island. We should take note ourselves and really admire these people.
