Here is the latest list of changes due to the latest storm:

Tropical Weather Update – October 28, 2005 6:00 PM

Due to the impact from Hurricane Wilma in Cozumel, we will make the following itinerary changes to cruises this weekend.

Elation October 27 from Galveston - This cruise will visit Progreso (Sat.)

Inspiration October 29 from Tampa - This cruise will visit Grand Cayman (Mon.) and Costa Maya (Tue.)

Carnival Miracle October 30 from Tampa - This cruise will visit Grand Cayman (Tue.), Costa Maya (Wed.) and Belize (Thur.)

UPDATE- Carnival Conquest October 30 from Galveston - The scheduled call in Cozumel will be replaced by a visit to Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Carnival Valor October 30 from Miami - The scheduled call in Cozumel will be replaced with Costa Maya

UPDATE - Fascination October 31 from Miami - This cruise will visit Key West (Tue.) and Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Wed.)

Elation October 31 from Galveston - This cruise will visit Progreso (Wed.) and Veracruz (Thur.)

OK now maybe I am losing my mind, but I thought Playa Del Carmen was basically wiped out... how is it possible it is open for cruise traffic already?

That is what I had heard as well soon after the damage was reported that PDC was gone. I pray they were wrong. I hope that the port is open but not sure how as there never has been a pier there and they used to only stop offshore to tender in the people for the Tulum tour.

Jim, We were there in June(Playa Dell Carmen) and there was a port. It was not much of a port, but we were able to get off the ship, without getting wet. lol I also heard it was damaged. I guess it is in better shape than was reported.

There was a port nearby in Calica. Not much of a port so to speak,it was more like a dock in the jungle lol. Puerto Aventuras was nearby and had many wonderful things to do. I'm not sure if the Omni resort is up and running yet but thats were we went and it was a great way to spend a day. Beautiful beaches, dolphin encounters, dive shop, great service, friendly people, lots of restaurants in a gated resort area. You didn't have to buy a day pass, and they were happy to welcome cruise ship passengers. When it was time for us to return to the ship, rather than finding us a cab, the hotel manager had the hotel shuttle van take us back to the ship. I'd go back there in a heart beat. Hope those wonderful people are doing alright. Its good to hear that area is bouncing back so quickly.
