The youth counselors have a list, so they know when you show up if your child is in their age group or not. That being said, if there aren't a lot of kids on the cruise, they tend to be a bit more lax about letting him slide into the 15-17 group.

We stongly suggested to my son to go to the meet and greet the first night. He was 14-1/4, was going into freshman year and 5'9.
He reported back the younger 12-14 age group some activities looked interesting but the kids "too young" he then went to the older 15-17 group and came back saying "the kids were huge--meaning a lot older looking" he was in limbo age group.
Normally he would go to show with us and then disappear for awhile.
While it cost us $100 he spent a lot of time in internet area "hanging out", the teen disco (they were very strict on age group and no older people were allowed into it while it was teen time) and by pizza area. Finally by Thurs night -a group of kids found him and they hung every evening there after.
Any questions about ship, boarding etc. just private message me and I'll be happy to respond.
