Default Taxi stands at beaches in St. Thomas and St. Maaten?

We're going on our third cruise in April to eastern Caribbean, on the Glory. I'm wanting to go to Coki beach while in St. Thomas and know we will have to take a taxi to get there, will there be taxi's there when we want to return to the ship, do they have taxi stands there? While I'm posting I may as well ask a couple of more questions, in St. Thomas and St. Maarten is town within walking distance of pier, and on the cruise ship there will be safes in the room and can be opened by using a credit card? Everybody has credit cards how safe can these "safes" be? I probably have more questions before I go, I hope someone will be able to answer these questions, I have learned a lot from this site already, thanks so much.

When you close your items into your safe, you will scan your card. It can be a Credit Card, your sign and sail, whatever it is, that will be the only card that can open the safe. And don't do like I did, and lock your stuff in there, and then scan your card upside down a few times with no luck.... Causes your heart to skip a few beats.

DO NOT USE YOUR SAIL AND SIGN CARD FOR YOUR SAFE!! if someone finds it and is lucky enough to find your cabin they can get in. Use a Costco Card or a similar card with the magnetic strip on it. Since the four of us werent always together we would keep the card somwhere in the cabin.

getting back to your original question:
There will be plenty of taxis waiting for you at the pier in St.Thomas when you get off the ship, there are people on the dock who will direct you to the correct taxi, at the beach the taxis are constantly coming and going at the beach entrance. You cannot walk downtown from the pier, nor can you walk from the beach to downtown Charlotte-Amaile - must take a taxi. You can however, walk from the pier to Havensight Mall and a few shops around the mall.
St.Maarten - you have to take a taxi to the French Side, and to get to the Dutch Side - take the water taxi- walk to the end of the pier, taxis are plentiful.
As for the room safes, you can use a store credit card, anything with a magnetic stripe, do not use your Sign and Sail Card, or you can input a numerical code (this is what we do, feel safer)
