Default Baggage/Porter question

Hi Everyone:
I have a general baggage question..

Does anyone know if you are allowed to carry your luggage onto the ship?
Do you have to give your luggage to the porter to wait for it to be delivered??

The port is Miami.. last time.. my luggage never made the ship even though it was tagged clearly. When it showed up..at the end of my cruise...the tags were still on the bags... I'm sure you can understand why I would like to carry my bag this time if possible.

Any clarification would be helpful..

Thanks and Happy Cruising!!

Sorry, unless it's small enough to fit through the airport sized X ray machine, you'll have to check your bags.

When handing them to the porter, stick around and watch them going into a bin. Then you'll know they are at least on the ship.

Default Baggage/Porter question

I can understand your concern, but no way would I schlepp luggage in long lines and up escalators. Not only that, but even after we boarded, we couldn't get to our room for almost two hours. Then it was at least two more hours before our other three bags came. Try and put it behind you; while the baggage area seems rather chaotic, I feel they have it down pretty good.

as Kuki mentioned, unless your bags can fit thru the security scanner- like the ones at the airport, you must check them with a porter. We always watch our bags to make sure that they get into a bin that gets loaded onto the ship.

Also, remember to tip the porters a dollar or two per bag, just more insurance that they will show up at your cabin.
