Default Carnival Travel Club

We bought a travel package on our last carnival cruise from Carnival Travel Club. Has anyone else bought this package and used it yet? We would like to know how others feel about the package. If you don't want to respond here, just E-mail me.

Thanks
JST

If you're talking about the Carnival Vacation Club, then yes, we bought into that last year. We have used it twice and have mixed feelings.

The plus side - our cruises are paid and they opened it up to include all Carnival owned ships. Negative - more points are required for the other lines.

The negative side - we booked a gty cabin, suppose to get the "best" upgrade BEFORE outside people are assigned. Our friends traveling with us booked their gty balcony cabin 2 months after us with a TA and got a nice cabin on the same floor, mid ship. Our cabin was the first cabin in the front of the ship. We were both upgrade 2 decks but a cabin all the way forward is not good so we called and had to use more points to upgrade to a mini-suite mid-ship same floor. While we enjoyed the nice cabin for our 8 day cruise, we would have been just as happy with a regular balcony cabin and saved points. I think we are going to pick our cabin next time, which again, uses more points.

The 1st time we used the club, (a 3 day testing points) we received chocolate covered stawberries and a personal phone call invitation to the Captain's Party, had a personal introduction and were sat in a reserved area. Nice but not necessary. On our 8 day cruise, newest ship, we received only the stawberries.

We have looked into the resort stays but haven't booked any yet.

I am interested in responses to this.

Hubby and I signed up on our cruise Dec. 10-18, but of course we haven't used it yet.

We like the idea of having VIP embarkation and debarkation (we got the VIP debarkation)...and I REALLY like the idea of knowing that we WILL DEFINITELY be going on another cruise or two in the next three years!!!!

The Vacation Club also helped us with our problem with the Maitre d' in the Dining Room, getting us the kind of seating we wanted.

I did forget to mention the VIP embarkation. We were the first ones on the Paradise. In Fort Lauderdale, after our 5 minute check in we asked for the Skipper's Club and were directed to go upstairs and wait. We had no ammenities and only 2 other couples joined us. We were the first ones on the ship after the wedding party. Downstairs, they had you wait in chairs lined up according to check in.

For debarkation, we could have gotten off very early but we chose to have a nice breakfast with our friends and took our time getting off. Our luggage was in the VIP area all alone so it was nice not to have to look for it.
