Default No Platinum VIP Check In yet

I emailed Carnival questioning the VIP Check-in for Platinum cruisers. This is the reply I got:

Thank you for visiting Carnival Cruise Lines on the World Wide Web. In regards to your query, we are implementing guests that has a platinum status will receive VIP check in. At this time, it has not gone into effect and we do not know when this will go into effect.

If there is anything else, please do not hesitate to ask.

Per the Currents magazine Winter 2006 page 10 (received today)...The Platinum Guest will receive benefits starting in the first quarter of 2006.

These benefits include...A special Carnival logo item, Canapes & petits fours delivered to the stateroom one evening, Personalized stationery.

You may also request these cruise benefits...Complimentary laundry service, Guaranteed dining assignments & supper-club reservations, Escorted tour of the "Fun Ship", Priority Spa reservations, Priority tender tickets, Priority debarkation.

Of course to be a Platinum Guest you must cruise with Carnival 10 times or more and then you will receive the Carnival Concierge Club benefits sometime before March 2006.

Good Luck!

They're currently planning to "Beta test" this on the Valor. The information they get from that experiment will assist them when they "roll out" the program fleetwide. No exact dates yet

Default They had better hurry up...

when you post something like this under the Carnival Web Site
Frequently Asked Questions:

"Carnival's VIP Check-In is an exclusive service designed to afford our Platinum guests and those traveling in deluxe suite accommodations, with special registration priviledges. This service IS NOW AVAILABLE in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Los Angeles(Long Beach)...(other ports listed). If you are entitled to these special services, please ask for our VIP Check-In immediately upon arriving at the cruise terminal."

IMHO, they should not put it on their website until they are ready to fully implement it. When people see this and then don't get it, it leaves a bad taste in their mouths. Especially since VIP check-in has been one of the most requested perks that I have read on the various boards.

Carnival had already ruffled a few feathers because this "platinum" system varied so greatly from ship to ship. We were on the Spirit in July and got the Canapes each formal night, as well as the Logo item, and other miscellaneous perks. However, other ships were not doing that at the time. It doesn't come off as being very professional.

We are headed out on the Pride on March 12th... (our family of four are all Platinum) we will see how it goes.

Don't get me wrong...we still love Carnival. (or else we would not have cruised them exclusively since 1982) But they need to get their act together on this kind of stuff.

Every past guest gets the pin, it is left in your cabin with the invitation to the past guest party

The reason I sent an email was just the reason that lhp posted. I saw that under FAQ and wanted more detail.
