Default McKinley Explorer rail transportation/White Pass Rail

Hello, We will be going on the Carnival 4 night pre-cruise southbound land tour in June. Part of this tour includes the McKinley Explorer rail transportation from Anchorage to Denali and then to Fairbanks. Has anyone taken this trip on the Explorer? If so, please let me know your opinion of the trip. Is the trip as scenic as the brochures suggest? Also, after so much time on the McKinley Explorer, would my family still want to go on the White Rail Pass in Skagway? I don't have any experience with either of these, so I am looking for help! Thanks.

If you post this question under 'Destinations' 'Alaska' you will probably get more replies. I have only done the White Pass and it was great. I have looked at the pre-tour and it seems like a really long train ride. I don't think my 15 year olds would like it.

Whatever you do it will be great

Kathy
