Default are capris considered shorts?

i was just wondering if carnival had issues with capri pants in the dining rooms. they're not technically shorts in my opinion, since they come about halfway from my knees to my ankles. i know there are lots of battles back and forth about the dress code on carnival ships and i don't want to make this into something big like that. but i wear a lot of capris in the summer and although i'm bringing simple skirts and other nice pants, i was just wondering if i can "get away with" capris on the non-formal dinner nights.

Not consider shorts and I have, on many occasions, worn them in the dining room.

If they are of a nice quality and you pair them up with nice pair of flat sandals or kitten heels and a nice blouse or sweater twin-set(this is me) Capris are fine for CASUAL night.

This is all I wore in the dining room except one formal night. Even wore my capris on optional formal night!

I only wore capri's in the dining room. In my opinion, carnival didn't really enforce the dress code anyway. I saw people at every dining room meal in jeans. But, yes, capri's, cute sandals and a nice top is just fine.
