How do you find out how old a ship is?? Are the older ships not as good. Trying to debate between two cruises, one on Carnival Glory and the other on Imagination. Any suggestions on the two? Thanks a bunch!
We loved the Glory. We cruised her when she was less than 6 months old back in 2003. I heard she went or is going to dry dock. Imagination is 11 years old, she came out in 1995. DH doesn't like the older ships. Just a personal preference.

The cruise companies have stats on the ships. For the Glory go to www.carnival.com create a sign on and look up the name of the ship. Here is some of the info. on the Glory. I think the ship was built in 2001. As far as ships go, it is relatively new.
Decks - 13
Passenger capacity - 2,974
Total crew - 1,150
Tonnage - 110,000
Ship size - Large
Ship length - 953 feet
Registry - Panama
I have pictures of the Glory. It is beautiful ship. When the ship was new I went to Port Canaveral to see her sail. The ship is large. If you want to see the pictures email me and I will send them to you. peachyke1@yahoo.com (put cruise ship in your email subject so I do not delete it).
Inspiration is smaller and older and no balconies, yuck.

The Glory is a 4 star and the Sensation class ships [Imagination] are 3 star ships. I've been on The Conquest, similar to the Glory and the Sensation. I enjoyed the Conquest much more. However, I enjoy the older ships in the other cruise lines as they offer different cruise experience, e.g., a traditional ocean liner voyage. Rock walls, and 11 bars versus 6 bars do not interest me. I can do a rock wall at home. As long as at least one bar is open, when needed, I do fine.
Basically the difference you will notice in the one star designation, will be slightly upgraded amenities, e.g., cloth napkins in the cafe instead of paper, better ingredients in the dining room, foam padded loungers at the pool in stead of rubber webbed deck chairs and if I remember, less announcements over the ship's public address system. On the Sensation, they never seemed to end.

The Imagination went into service in 1995 - and the Glory in 2003. If newness is important to you, then by all means choose the Glory.
Odd as it may sound, the Holiday (oldest and smallest in Carnival's present fleet) holds the fondest memories for me, and I've cruised on her several times, as recently as last year. Great ship for her size, friendliest crew and staff, best service, most consistently good food - than any other ship I've been on. That's saying a LOT!
