Those who have asked and recieved a ship credit because the price dropped, are you going only with the price on Carnival's site?
I noticed the price for 8A guar hasn't dropped on the site, or 2 of the online sites. But 2 others have dropped the price 250.! For 2 of us, that would add up to alot of drinks! But I'm not sure if Carnival has a Walmart type "we'll beat their price" type plan.
So, if another site drops the price, will Carnival honor their price? (I booked through Carnival to begin with)
It never hurts to call and ask, depending on price you booked with to begin with, most of the time they will either honor the new price drop, or give you shipboard credits, which is also nice...Give them a call and see what they say, good luck.
As long as you didn't book through your Sea Miles card you will probably get the onboard credit, Sea Miles told us Friday, they would not honor any price drops. Oh well, we will be on a cruise, so who cares.
When we booked through Cruise800 they refunded our credit card back when the price dropped. It was a few weeks before sailing, don't know what they do when it is close to sailing.
If Carnival offered the lower price, they "may" lower the price. If you found the lower price elsewhere, Carnival won't match the price.
Just one reason I would never book direct with the cruise line!!! A travel agent is your agent, and represents YOU. An agent at the cruise line works FOR THE CRUISE LINE, and works for THEM.
the cruise line will only honor a price drop on its site. They do not price match. The discount is offered thru that particular site, that's it.
IF the lower price is EXACTLY the same as what you have now and is not for an original booking, call and ask them if you can transfer your booking from Carnival to them at their advertised reduced price. Ask if there are any fees attached.
If you can't do that, then look into cancelling your original reservation with Carnival and re-booking with the other agency, again find out if there are any fees attached to the cancellation.
Do the math - see if its worth your while.
Another option would be to go to your local travel agency with the price from the internet site and tell them that you will give them your business if they can meet or beat this price, let them do all the leg-work for you. This is what i would do, it will save you time, hassle and probably some money. Your TA can do all the things i mentioned for you!
I booked though Carnival on the Conquest with a Past guess discount for $599.00 Cat 4B on Main deck for ourselves and our parents. Well, I saw the price go down (on Orbitz, cruisesonly and cruises) to $449.00 for a 4B for a senior discount. It took 5 phone calls to different agents and finally got an agent to give only my parents an on board credit of $50.00 each with a total of $100.00. They said if we had booked a senior discount, ten the credit would have been a full amount. $100.00 was good...
HI Nic,
Yes, if you should see a price drop, call your travel agent. It will also depend on when you booked, if you got some special price, they can't always refund any price difference, but your t/a will be able to tell you if you can or not. It never hurts to ask.
