Default First Time Cruiser (Elation July 06)

Boy where do I start? My wife and I are going on our first Cruise 2 July 06 on the "Elation" out of Miami. First off is anyone else on this cruise ? Next Question, I'm trying to find out if Tuxedos can be rented on board for the Formal dinners and if so, how do I go about doing it and getting the measurements and such? So many questions comming to mind but I am reading just about everything I can find on Cruising. Can someone give me some advice on first time cruising and what to expect.

Thanks,

Goose

You can rent a Tux on board. Make sure you get that figured out as soon as you get on board. I don't know how long your cruise is.

This board is filled with very knowledgeable people so ask away. They helped me so much with my first cruise.

You really don't need a tux for dinner night, unless you really want to look sharp. Most guys just wear dress slacks that night and a nice shirt.
Good luck and have fun!

We are going on that cruise as well - July 2, 2006!! This is our fifth Carnival cruise and 7th overall. Yes, you can rent a tux but the majority do not. I'd say maybe 15% (that's generous) that rent the tux. Most guys wear a nice suit. You'll have a blast. Any questions - this board is the place to go. Are you taking children on this cruise?

IL,

That's cool that you are on the same cruise, might have to track eachother down. We are not taking our daughter ( 9yr ) on this one, this is just for me an my wife. We got married last year and were so busy for a Honeymoon and figured this would be a good "late" honeymoon/anniversary. Figured we would check it out before we take our Daughter next year. Been looking at buying a Tux, my wife wants me to be in one, thought about the suit as well. Have time to plan I guess. We are really excited, always wanted to Cruise and this will be a great vacation, I'm sure of it.

Goose,

We are taking my 12 year old nephew and my 10 year old cousin. They've both cruised before and love it! You'll love it as well - I'm sure. The tux does make for nice pictures - which they take tons of. They have places set up all over the ship before dinner to go have your picture taken. They display them in the photo gallery usually the next day and are available to purchase. 8 x 10's are $20 and 5 x7's are $8 (I think).

Have a good time! Maybe we'll see you there.

We sailed on the elation for our very first cruise April 2004. We chose a guaranteed inside and was upgraded to the upper deck with a window. We were thrilled. Not having anything to compare it to, except our all inclusive vacation we took at the moon palace resort in Cancun. We thought the Elaton was great.

The people were friendly, the food great, we had a blast on the excursions. and just the atmosphere on the boat was wonderful. We did win a ship on a stick, which you will hear about on the cruise. We won the newley wed game. 20 years of marriage makes difference... and pretty much had the time of our life.

We just booked our second cruise. We are leaving on the Glory on Sept 16 and can hardly wait.

Enjoy your cruise. Disregard bad reviews, because in the long run it is all personal anyway. Have FUN!!

We are going on the Elation in December....Tuxedos are available, usually have plenty of sizes on board, however, you can reserve them under the services page on Carnival.com. I think $85 for one tux, or $115 for a black tux, two shirts, and a White dinner jacket. We were married on the Triumph with 50 guests. All of the men rented tux's and they were waiting in our cabins when we boarded the ship. That really made it nice. As far as sizes, go to a tux rental shop and get measured. That's what carnival recommends. But again, if you get on the cruise and it doesn't fit, they are more then happy to switch it out, as long as they have the size needed. Try it on when you board and work out any problems early.

Thanks for the infor on the Tux question, thinking of a suit or buying a Tux, my wife wants to go on another cruise next year with our daughter so it will be used at that time as well.
