If we book an excursion with Carnival to Atlantis are we on any time restraints after the tour? Can we stay for 4 hours on the beaches or do we have to return after 3 hours to the ship? We would like to do the tour then hang out for several hours at the beach. Also are there any good places to eat within walking disance of the peer or from Atlantis? Does anybody know if Fat Tuesdays or the Jimmy Buffet restaurant in Key West is within walking distance from the Pirate Museum? Thanks for any help you can offer us!!
We took the Atlantis tour through Disney Wonder, and we were able to return at our lesiure. However if you do not return on the designated shuttles, it is considered "leaving the tour" and then you are on your own. Which means you would need to make sure you return to the ship before it sails without you.
Not sure how comparable Carnivals pricing and tour times are, but we paid $65.00 per adult and $47.00 per child for full access to Atlantis resort and beach area. We arrived at around 930am on the beach and the return shuttles ran from 100pm until 500pm every 30 minutes.
It was about a 15minute walk from the beach to the shuttle area. but all in all the tour was worth the money. We loved Atlantis and especially loved the shark pools and the rope bridge.
Hope this helps - as I believe Carnivals tour is pretty similar.
lisa - you do not have to stick with the tour return times, but you are on your own to get back to the ship. Just make sure that you are ON BOARD 45 minutes at the latest before sail-away, 1 hour is better.
Does the excursion include the beach? You cannot just go to the beach at Atlantis, and hang-out without paying.Unless things have changed within the last year -- Your options are to book a day room at Atlantis$$$$$ which will give you full access to the beach and the waterslides, or you can book a day room at the Comfort Inn across the street for a lot less and get beach access only.
There is a really nice sport bar inside the casino at Atlantis that makes some really good sandwiches.
Sounds like you've gotten answers to your Atlantis question.
Key West: Yes, Jimmy Buffet's is within walking distance of the Pirate Museum. We walked there and it took 10 - 15 minutes. It's 3 or 4 blocks (we walk slow). It's just down the street - anyone can tell you how to get there.
