Default victory

I just posted the beginning of my review, It was a great time. Different people have ideas on what they expect, I never cruised before so I have nothing to compare. My overall experience was very positive. It will be what you make of it ,other than maybe some incident or other situation.
That is what this forum taught me the most

I always take reader reviews with a grain of salt. Everyone has different expectations and views. I'm sure if you go on your cruise with an open mind, you will have a great time. As geostorm said, a cruise is what you make it.....go and have a great time!

My Aussie friends were over in the states while on a world tour. They sailed on the Victory to the Western Caribbean and had nothing but positive things to say about the ship......great service, entertainment, food..........all of it. They sent me pictures and I could tell they were having a blast! I too am cruising on the Victory in May and can't wait.

I love the Victory.... I love the sea green decorating theme, some people hate it....I loved it.

which just goes to show you......you can't judge a ship based on someone elses experience!

going back on the victory 11/26/06

Default MY VICOTRY EXPIERENCE...

My husband and I were on the Victory in Oct of last year...I want to first say that was our FIRST cruise ever, sooo maybe I do not have anything to compare it to...BUT I will say we had a WONDERFUL TIME. We are going on the Facination one week from today with our child! Trying a new ship and hope it is as good as the Victory was.
The ship was clean...the room was spacious, smelled wonderful..no smoke smell or bed bugs like some people said. The steward and cleaning help were awesome..I turn around and bam our room is clean our ice is filled..we tipped extra to them because they certainly deserved it.
I loved Dana our cruise director..I HOPE you have him when you go...he made us laugh..and took the time to really let people know he cared. What a great time Bingo was..and the comedian.
The drinks on board were awesome..and STRONG! WOWZERS..here I am thinking they are going to water them down and charge a bunch...they sure did not! My ONLY gripe..was the buffets...it just seemed like maybe I was expecting more variety of food..it seemed to be the same foods everyday out there. I guess I dont know what to expect..it tasted great...just thought maybe it would have been more elaborate. Other than that the ship was fun...the people in the casino were fun and helpful. I believe that my husband and I were so greatful to get away after the hurricanes..that we MADE IT a great time!
Hope you have a great trip...take care

Wow thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I have now read Geostorm's report too.

We have cruised before - on Paradise - and had such a blissful time, people and crew were wonderful, that when you then see a few negative reports panic sets in, and you think this time it will not match up to your expectations.

But heh after your help I have my positive head back on - so roll on the day....

Thank you

My family and I was on the Victory Oct 05 and had a great time. I have also read negative reviews, both before and after we got back. Some of them actually make me smile. I am sure that there have been some issues for some cruisers on the Victory, but I did not encounter them. In fact, we enjoyed the cruise and ship so much that we are book on the Victory again for this Dec.

Just remember, this is a ship, not never never land, and it will not be perfect, but it will be fun and you will have a great time.

Candy

Good things to about the Victory ...
Large and nicely decorated ...
Great staff ...
You are cruising ...
Lots of different food choices ...
Wide variety of activities and entertainment ...
You are on a cruise ...
Comfortable beds and bedding ...
Nice cabins ...

And did I mention you are on a cruise ...

Cruised on Victory 2/26/06 and found here to be a great ship.
We had a great time. I will be posting a review soon. Don't
worry, you didn't make a mistake. As one other reader stated,
you have to take bad reviews with a grain of salt. If you
have specific question, feel free to email me.
Happy Sailing..........

Default Victory review

The Legends show was great, all week in the karoke bar they hold auditions for certain entertainers to impersonate. And they pick the best ones. They feature them in a full review with the Victory dancers the last night A MUST SEE Also the best Bingo Night $1500 prize money

Thank you - yes they had a similar night on Paradise where it was a 'talent' night, it was very good fun - some being more talented than others - but the standard on the whole amazing.

We just have to sort out some excursions now - though we would rather use off ship ones - the stingrays I know are a must and I think Geostorm mentioned Mayan ruins which sounds also sound like a must. I will have to start Googling.... or post another question as every one seems to be so helpful here.

Default victory trips

Try this place for your excursions they were great, less costly and small gorups they time everything to your ships departure and arrival.

I've sailed on the Victory 3 times, and each time seems to be more "fun" than the last:-)

I have met SO many people on the VICTORY, some of which have turned into be life-long friends:-)

I found the "sea green" color scheme to be very relaxing, and a nice contrast with the rest of the decor.

I am actually considering booking the Victory again for my winter 2007 cruise (depending on her intinerary)

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't have a FABULOUS time!!

Remember . . . "The key to a fun cruise is Participation". Participate in as many onboard activities as you possibly can. You'll meet lots of new people, make lots of new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime:-)

Bon Voyage!

Annie

Thank you so much for your feed back, if we meet people half as nice as you all sound, our cruise will truly be amazing. Can't wait now - 8 weeks and counting - will just have to stick to the diet with renewed vigour ready for the sunshine.

This is exactly why I hate irresponsible reviews. Here the OP was so concerned that they had made a mistake because of some irresponsible reviews, when if the truth be told they were propbably just some folks with a starfish up their fanny.

An honest, fair, balanced review (which our dear readers deserve) will list actual events and not generalize or exaggerate. If you read someone say "all the food was terrible" or "the ship was a dump" or "this was the cruise from he!!" then file those comments in file 13 as "folks packing a starfish".

Look for reviews that give all aspects of the cruise (good and bad). I can tell you from years of experience (on 12 different Carnival ships) the sirloin steak will be tough and dry. Since I only eat beef, I get it on every ship...knowing it will be tough and dry. And I always try to include a post note that states some of the reason may be my fault because I do like my beef well done. The rest of the beef fare is generally ok to very good depending on the ship. The Spirit's beef last year was not as good as previous years, but I have read this is a problem industry wide for those cruiselines like RCCL, NCL and Carnival.

The bottom line is that if you look for problems to ruin your cruise, you will find them. I guarantee it. However, if you want a good time at a great price, Carnival will give you your money's worth!!
