Default Sign & Sail card

8 years ago you could NOT use a bank debit card for your sign& sail expenses. You had to use a bank credit card to guarantee your sign & sail card. Has this policy changed?

For the past ten cruises or so, I've used my Visa debit card to book the cruise, as well as securing my Sail & Sign account. No problem.

Probably is the policy now. Debit cards were just getting popular back then, now they are used just like cash.
Thanks for the info.

I was told to just remember that they will put a "hold" on your checking account for a certain amount. We are planning on just using cash....hopefully it will be a little easier. Happy cruising!

We had this problem years ago because the banks had a $300/day limit and by the time we purchased 3 excursions, drinks, bingo, pictures, etc in one day it kicked it out. The next time we had the bank raise their limit but now we just put it on a credit card and wait the 3-6 weeks, depending on the closing date, then pay it all off. Same as cash and it saves having to bring cash or other worries.

Not all banks (or possibly just not all accounts?)
have a daily amount or any hold on debit cards.
I have no restrictions on my Visa debit card.

Default debit card

You can use a debit card as long as it has a visa or mastercard sign on it

Yes, you can now use debit cards, but you are limited to spending. Best to use a major credit card.
