Default Walking from pier to beaches?

I was just wondering if once we dock in St.thomas, aurba, barbados, dominica if there was a beach in walking distance from the pier? we like to snorkel but aren't much on excursions. In aurba we are planning to rent a car. thanks for your input. 26 days left til we set sail on the destiny!

St. Thomas - I didn't see any beaches close to the pier in walking distance.

Dominica - No beaches Its a very rocky place but beautiful.

Barbados - Its a bit of a hike but the beach is not too far away. It's easier to get a 10 minute cab ride for $5 to Malibu Beach.

Aruba - Not to far is a resort along the water that has a beach there. I don't know how the feel about outside guests but it didn't look like they where checking.

since you want to snorkel i strongly suggest that while in St. Thomas get yourself over to St. John island - by ferry. This is a gorgeous island with really good snorkeling. You have to take a cab from the pier to Red Hook Harbor to grab the ferry over to St. John- link to schedules & beach info - www.vinow.com.

Or book a cab, $10 per person each way, to Coki Beach. Beautiful snorkeling, plenty of fish and nice beach.

We did walk back from Boatyard Beach in Barbados, nice long walk, but you can do it, or just get a short cab ride. The other ports, you'd also need a cab. St. Thomas, is Meagans Bay, although there isn't any good snorkeling there. If you have the time, going to St. Johns from St. Thomas would be the way to go if you want to snorkel.

from the son of a thrifty cruiser, do not put yourself through the pain of walking to a beach in any of those ports. take a cab.
once i started cruising on my own, i realized how much nicer it is to take a cab to the beach rather then spend half the day walking... we used to walk to dunn's river falls from the cruise docks in ocho rios... not only is it not safe with some of the locals there but very far... the stories i could tell...
