Dress code
We leave for our first cruise next week to the Mexican Riviera :D . Can you let me know how formal are the dress codes for the two dinners. Can I wear a nice leather jacket instead of a Sport Coat, are ties enforced?

Carnival is the most lax about enforcing the dress code however it is suggested that you wear a dark suit or formal attire on these two nites and if not there are other places to dine on the ship .This subject will get a lot of responses but the cruise line does indicate the appropriate attire for the formal nites.A leather jacket would not be in good taste for these two dinners.

During formal night on both of my cruises, 90% of men have been in suits, 3-5% in Tuxes and the other 5% in dockers.

Don't be leery of dressing up. :D

See how nice Mehawk looks in his tux? That is the proper attire for the first formal night. The second formal night is not as dressy. Leather jacket would not be considered formal. Dark suit and tie is acceptable, and at the very least, a sportscoat and tie with nice slacks.

A leather jacket wouldn't be considered appropiate attire for a " formal " night dinner. Also, wouldn't a leather coat be awfully hot on a cruise?

I am not one to dress to the nines, as they say, but you might consider wearing a dark sport coat and tie.

thanks for the responses, we just wanted to make sure we pack right, and not be overdressed.
