Default Buffet open for dinner also and dress code in Rome

Will be sailing on the new Carnival Freedom next year. Can anyone tell me if this latest class of ship has a casual buffet meal for dinner (supper)? We have cruised quite a few times and no longer like to haul along dress clothes. Want to keep our packing to a minimum this time.

Also, can you visit the tourist attractions in Rome in shorts or casual slacks? What about the Vatican/Vatican museums??

I'm not sure what time of year your going so hard to tell you whats best to bring for clothes other then the ever standard comfortable shoes for running around on excursions.

From what I've read about the ship. It looks like it has the buffet for you.

Italy, Spain and France are lovely no matter when you get the opportunity to go. Have a great cruise. I was lucky enough to see them via land when I lived overseas.

We'll be going in late March - early April. We've been on quite a few cruises before, but not to Europe yet -- this is our first. Just wondering the the standard "tourist dress" was the same or dressier during the day. My assumption is that in the evening it is more upscale.

I'd rather eat dinner in the dining room, but my husband has gotten to really hate packing all those suits and jackets.

In Europe, they are very strick on what is to be worn in certain places. Such as churches. No shorts, no bare sholders.

The rest of the places, you can dress as you wish, but I would dress on the conservitive side. This does not mean a coat and tie. Jeans are OK as well as a T-shirt, but dress for the weather.

I found this website for Rome.

http://www.worldexecutive.com/citygu.../weather.shtml

It's not real warm there in March time frame. Expect 50's to upper 60's kind of weather. Go ahead and wear your tourist stuff. They are sticklers for dressing for dinner in fancy places but its not like that every where. This site had a lot of good information.

For the Vatican you will most certainly be denied admittance in shorts. That will most likely hold true in any of the churches, or religious sites.

Regular casual slacks, and shirts will do just fine though.
