Default Lounge chairs and documents needed.....

We are headed out on our first cruise and I need to get some information.

1) I have my original birth certificate(raised seal and little ink footprints on back) and drivers liscence.. Is that enough for Carnival?

2) What is the real story with lounge chairs? Any advice?

Oh, and in response to the "What do't you like about Carnival" post. Anytime you have parents who either do not supervise their kids , or allow their kids to break rules ( regardless of being on a cruise or not) it can cause grief. We have been pretending to be at formal dinners for the last week , and doing our best to get our kids in line. We will see. The threats for no ice cream and pizza seem to be working thusfar.

First of all -Have a great trip!! Your birth certificate and driver's license will be fine. I've never had any trouble getting a lounge chair, but I don't like to sit right next to the pool. Those tend to be the ones that get taken quickly.

As Darcy said. Your just fine. I never had any problems getting a lounge chair either but then I don't like to bake so finding one in the shade in the morning was easy.

What a great idea for you and your family. Practice formal dining is a great way to get your family ready. When I was growing up, we ate as a family every day. My parents where strict about manners at the dinner table so when I did go out to dinner with my parents there was no running around no squirming, no screaming. Yes sir no sir, thank you , please pass the salt and dinner confersation. My dad was a career army man so now you know where that comes from. HAHAHA

Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

Are you sure that birth certificate is a STATE-issued one? I thought only the hospital-issued certificates had the footprints? You'd better double check to make sure. A hospital b/c is definitely NOT accepted for cruise travel.

BTW, many of the states are now issuing b/c without raised seals, as they are using the state watermark paper instead.

Hi shawnd,

I agree with BlueChef! I'm 99% sure that what you have is NOT a government issued birth certificate. From what I remember, the hospital sends a notice of a birth to the county and the county mails the parent's a birth certificate. (The one with the footprints is from the hospital and they would bring it home with the baby.)

There'd be no way a government issued birth certificate could have your footprints on it !

If you can't find your government issued certificate contact the county courthouse in the county where you were born and ask for a certified copy.

I do hope you have the time !

Good luck!

Shawnd can't help you with the doc stuff, but you WILL have chair hogs, and all you have to do is notify one of the staff of seat saving, and remove their stuff in a certain length of time.....those are inconsiderate cruisers(Selfish)
