Default Room service question--

At dinnertime, can you get dinner items delivered to your room, or are you limited to sandwiches?

Although I have never asked them to bring me the dining room selections, I think it is limited to sandwiches and salads & cookies. The selection is pretty good though and we ordered room service almost everyday, usually late night snacks.

Our family has ordered the BLT and Ham & Cheese sandwiches, very good. They also have some type of fruit bowl, etc. that is very good. They have cookies and usually brownies, very good! Kid's love this feature, let them tip when the food arrives. You can order as much as you want, so we usually order 2 or 3 sandwiches and then taste each others to see which ones we prefer.

No. You can't order 'meals' from the dining room. ONLY the items on the room service menu. However, you can go to Lido Buffet (but not the dining room) and fill a plate and bring back to your cabin.

Although there are no hot items on the room service menu, they do have some very good sandwiches and other items. The roast beef and brie on baguette is especially good, as well as the open-faced shrimp salad sandwich. Sandwiches come with your choice of potato salad or potato chips. The salads are good, as well as a nice choice of desserts.

You will find a room service menu in your cabin. It has basic sandwiches,
salads, desserts, coffee, tea, milk, specialty sandwiches, breakfast items,
and other cold offerings. We order room service late at night and have
a picnic on our bed while enjoying a movie. Just remember to tip your
server, $1-2 is plenty. Enjoy

Is it possible to leave a tip for room service on your sail & sign card or do you have to give the person cash in your room?

I don't believe I've heard that question asked before. It's only $1 or $2. I keep a stack of one dollar bills in the top dresser drawere just for room service tips. Seems like a lotta paperwork for just that tiny amount.

Default You CAN have dinner selections sent to the room

In my experience on Carnival Fantasy and Sensation, you CAN have the dinner menu selections delivered to your room. Simply request this from your room steward. I wasn't feeling well, and my husband didn't want to leave me but DID want to get some lobster. They gladly delivered to our room.

About the tipping, you cannot tip on the sail and sign card without going to the purser's desk and making a special request. I bring lots of $1's for tipping.

I'm going on the Sensation again (4th time on this one) tomorrow!

Yes, that may have been the case since you were ill....but it's VERY rare they will deliver. It's definitely not the normal way of doing things - don't want new cruisers to get the wrong idea.

Most are salads and sandwiches, but very good. Try their BLT...we got hooked.

Here's a link to the Carnival room service menu from two weeks ago that someone uploaded on another site. It looks exactly like the one I saw a month ago:

I have had "dinner" delivered to our rooms on 3 ships, but I imagine if you call early to the Maitre d' or Captain of the Dining Room and tell them you feel ill (not seasick!) and request a full meal for dinner, you might luck out. We usually get something from room svc on the first day and tip your server UP FRONT with a bill larger than $2.00 (cash preferred) you will get great service throughout your cruise from that server. He or she will be assigned to your deck section for the entire trip; cabin stewards generally do not deliver room service.
