Default Berths

Can someone esxplain to me how the upper berth comes out of the wall. I have never stayed in a room with upper and lower berths. Also where in the room are they located. I have a balcony room on the 6th floor

Hi Cathy,

Since you didn't say which ship I've just looked for "general" pictures.

Here's a picture posted by cali-cruiser:

of the upper bed(s) opened. During the day it is folded into the wall. When the room steward makes up the beds at night he/she will open the upper bed.

They are located directly above the lower beds.

Hope you all have a wonderful cruise!

Do they also have lower berths or is it always an upper for the 4th person. My fear is that it will break away from the wall the person that we planned on sleeping in it is very large. I am the only small person in the room

Hi again Cathy,

There will be two lower beds (which can be put together for a "queen" bed), and one or two uppers. I've never heard of any problems with "large" people in the upper beds, but if you're worried (I get it now ) you should take the upper since you're small!

I've never slept in an upper, but from what I've seen posted here they are just as comfortable as a lower. (IMO, they may be even more comfortable since they are only used for sleeping.) The lowers get "sat on" during the day a lot more .
