Default Newbie to Carnival, Help please!!

Hi everyone,
I am not new to cruising, but I am new to Carnival.
Summer 07 we will be crusing with 4 adults and 2 grand kids ages 13 and 15.
I am debating about carnival or RCCL at this point.
I have been to the official web site and read one of the daily event papers, but it wasnt for the cruise I was interested in taking.
so here are my questions:

1. Where can I go to maybe see the events of a 7 day Eastern cruise?

2. Do you think there is plenty to keep 2 teens busy on board?

3. Do they have many family events where we can participate a a family?

4. Is ther eplenty to keep you busy during the day if your not into Casinos?
5. I fyou have any tips, suggestions or ideas to share with a newbie I would greatly appreciate it. we need to make up our minds soon as to which lines we are going to cruise on. Our daughter and her family are coming to visit this summer, so I need ot have all my fact straight to discuss it with her so we can book.

Thankyou so much for you help!!
please convince me that Carnival would be a good choice for our family.

Kathleen

Dear Kathleen,
Hi, we have cruised on Carnival 6 times and really think they give you
a great vacation. I'm not sure where to find daily planners, but if
you look at the cruise itinerary, you can just about figure out the
activities for the day. On port days, check out the shore tours offered.
During the "at sea" days, Carnival offers different activities each day.
Bingo and the casino are always available. In the mornings there is
usually something going on the Lido deck by the pool, horse racing,
ice carving, hairy chest contest, survivor, dancing. The spa offers
exercising classes, makeup demos, (both free). The spa has many
offerings if you don't mind paying the $$. You can enjoy the whilpool
at the spa, free. In the main lounge you will find games like,
The Not So Newly Wed (funny) and talks on the ports. Just read your
Carnival Capers (daily paper delivered to your cabin) for each days
activities.
Carnival has club 02 for teens. Check out the teen board for information
on how teens like this offering. There really is plenty to keep everybody
busy. Remember, a cruise is what you make of it. The fun won't come
to your door, you have to go to it.
You may want to go to other websites like this one. Email me for others.
RCCL has many nice ships too, however it is a little more expensive and
the cabins are much smaller. You might check out Carnival Liberty
with it's pool side huge movie screen. We sail on her next Feb.
Good Luck on your decision. Email me if I can help.
Happy Sailing...........

Hi we were new to Carnival this past March also, and they won us over! In fact, we have another booked for this coming Feb.
We sailed on the Liberty (Eastern route) and I think your whole family would enjoy it. There is something for everyone.
The food was great. The ports and excursions we did were great!! We loved the ship! Go ahead and give them a try. We did and we are glad we did.

Thanks for the help, both of you.

I appreciate any tips I can get.
I just want this to be a great vacation for the family, since we invited them to cruise either line I kind of feel responsible for making sure they will have a great time. especially the kids (grandkids).
When they were younger we took them on DCL twice and they loved it, but now that they are older We figure they need to try something a little different and we are curious about other cruise lines too.
I think my husband and I would have fun on any ship.
But we are mostly interested in family fun events. We dont drink or gamble so that eliminates quite a bit on any ship.
Which ever one we choose it will be a 7 day Eastern cruise. We prefer it to the Western, although we love the western too.

Thanks again and if you think of anything else that may help me, please let me know!!

I noticed someone had put a link to a Carnival Capers as a response to a question on here the other day. Did you see that? I have noticed teens really enjoying Carnival cruises and it is more casual for teens so they don't feel it is "stuffy". The pool games are really funny and the excitement level will grab them. The staff is "fabuoloso"! I think the pool games start around 1 and last until maybe 4 on sea days. A must for young people to check out. They have the arcade to go in.
Carnival has a very busy schedule on sea days. There are so many choices that you can really wear yourself out if not careful. I don't drink much and rarely go in the casino and find lots to do.
I don't know how the teen Camp is but that might be a fun spot to meet other teens.
The inside shows in the afternoon are worth the view and good for a chuckle.

I posted up capers the other day. Let me know which one you plan to take and I'll see if I can find capers for you for that cruise.

I picked Carnival because I wanted to have a great time. I wasn't disappointed. I'm not into sedate cruising so it fit the bill perfectly for us.

Dina, Thankyou!!

We are interested in doing the Eastern Caribbean 7 day out of Port Canaveral. I have read so many names lately, I think it was the Glory, but I could br wrong. I will double check later in the day to make sure.
We live in Florida and could easily make it to any of the 3 major ports in Florida, just Port Canaveral is the closest to us.

Thanks again,
Kathleen
