Default luggage tags

Do you have to put the cruise provided luggage tags on the items your carrying on? How about the garmet bag I am carrying on?

I've never cruised on Carnival before, but the other 3 cruise shps I went on REQUIRED you to put on THEIR tags. It has the code # for your room number on the tag. That way they know where to send your luggage. So, yes, I do believe you would need to put on their tags. Too bad they only give you 2 tags per person...........or at least that is what someone told me Carnival did.......I need about 3 more. Guess I'll have to fill out the other 3 tags when I get to the port.

The tags the cruiselines give you are for your "checked" in luggage. If you have extras, put them on your carryons incase they get misplaced or left somewhere. We tried to carry our garment bag once and they made us check it in. If you need extra tags, you can pick them up when you arrive to the port.

Good advice, CA Cruiser....if we have extra tags, we put them on our carry-on items as well. I don't know what city you are sailing out of, but in Miami, when you drop off your luggage before you enter the terminal, there will be a box outside with all the different deck colored tags, just in case you have extra items you want to check.

It is not required to put a cruise luggage tag on your carry on item when you board, however it is a good idea in the event you misplace the bag. It's just another form of ID.

I have put one on my carry on about 1/2 the time and I have never put one on my CPAP machine. It all depends if I have enough luggage tags. If there are enough I throw one on, if not, I don't.

I always have an ID tag on my carry on, though it is not a cruise luggage tag.

Take care,
Mike

I'm a little confused. I was under the understanding that you had to put on the cruise line provided tags on your luggage. Isn't that how they find out what room you're in? Am I missing something somewhere?

The question was about the luggage you carry yourself onto the ship. These don't have to have cruiseline tags on them, though as stated above it's not a bad idea to put them on. ALL bags given to the porters MUST have the cruiseline issued tag on them. Hope this clears any confusion.

Another reason to put these tags on your bags, is there is an order to the way you disembark the ship upon your return. If you bought more things, and need extra tags, they will have them in the pursers lobby.
