Default boarding documents

I've seen this topic before but cannot find it to use so will ask in a new forum. I have all birth certificates for my family for boarding. Obviously my wife's is in her maiden name. We cannot locate our marriage certificate so..... Will a b/c and drivers license be sufficient? I know, I know get a passport or I should have but... being this is our first cruise I didn't feel like shelling out another 6 or 700 bucks for all of us to find out that maybe cruising isn't the vacation we thought it would be. so any input is appreciated.

Just be prepared to love cruising, then after Dec 31st you will have to have a passport for everyone.

I am sure I will if everything everyone says about cruising is true. The main reason for the choice of the cruise especially carnival is the camp the kids can go to. I was and am hoping a cruise can be a family yet somewhat seperate vacation for my wife and I and the kids. Haven't found a vacation yet where I didn't spend most of my time tending to children. I mean I don't need to go on a vacation to do that.

We just cruised and my mom was asked for her marriage certificate (my sister and I both have passports). You should be able to get a copy from the town or city where you were married, or, if you have time, maybe just get a passport for your wife.

Last year I used BC and DL and was fine.
This year we had passports and it was great just carrying one item.
Its small can pack it anywhere!

After I got married, I started using my maiden name as a middle name on my driver's license. When I went on my first cruise the lady at check in commented that it was good that I did that, because she said that otherwise I might have had to show a copy of my marriage certificate. I now have a passport, which has simplified the whole process.

Good luck and have a great time on your cruise!!!!

this is one of those topics that you will get a different answer from everyone. Some ladies have been asked to produce the marriage license, some have not. The safest course of action would be to either get a copy of your marriage license or get a passport for your wife. Everyone will need one eventually to travel anywhere outside the US, not just to cruise.

It only costs a few dollars to get a certified copy of your marriage certificate. Here in California you get them from the County Recorder's office. I did have to show my marriage certificate on my last cruise, so I was glad I had it with me.
